CUCUMBER LINKS installes FIVE spywares on my computer!

This guy posts looking for trades, and I tell him that I own www.dirtyfuckingpics.com as well as www.redtgp.com , and would be interested in trading.

He messages me that he has added my links, and to go ahead and add his ...

Upon going to his site, my virus scanners and spyware scanners went fucking nuts!

When all was done, and I managed to close the page, I was left with FIVE nasties on my computer!

Internet Optimizer
Deal Helper
Side Find
180Search Assistant
IST Toolbar

This is NOT COOL AT ALL in my books, so I thought I would warn people to hopefully save you the aggrivation I am about to go through ... I'll be down the next 2 hours thouroughly cleaning all spywares from my machine!

Thanks Cucumber Links |angry|

I see this all the time and still don't get it! If you're in this business for the long haul, why would you want to screw your surfers? |banghead|

Hmmmm .... lets move this to a forum where hardly anybody will see it

Greenguy 2005-02-24 06:46 PM

No, it's "Let's move this to the proper forum" like we do with all posts that belong elsewhere.

I just noticed that last night while submitting. It just started since the other day I submitted a site. I`m thinking he may have been hit by hackers. I know of someone else it happened to not long ago. They rigged it to install thier malware crap until i tipped him off and it was fixed. Time will tell.

Hi everybody,

John from cucumberlinks here, this crap has been for 1 day on my indexpage.
Someone talked my into it saying it was a clean toolbar, and the sponsor is well known so i thought, lets try it.
The next day I get a mail from facial freak that he got his pc going nuts, so i kwew enough.
I have as soon as I got this mail removed this shit from my site and have mailed facial freak to say i'm sorry that his pc has been infetected and that i removed everything off my site.
Again, I'm very sorry for those 9 people who's pc is infected during this, it's my mistake and it has been removed from my site!!!

MrYum 2005-02-26 06:52 PM

Hey there Cucumber...

Really glad you popped in and set the situation straight :)

It's far too easy to get caught up in the dark side of this biz.

Good for you coming into the light! |headbang|

This very board is an excellent place to get good solid advice on how to prosper in adult marketing :)

More sites coming your way as we speak!

RawAlex 2005-02-26 07:17 PM

Cucumber - there is really no such thing as a "clean" toolbar - allowing anyone to remotely pop stuff on your pages is taking a HUGE risk. There are some really big companies in this business (I won't name names here) that make money installing these toolbars. While they might look good on the surface, once they are past windows security and actually on the PC, it's pretty darn hard to stop them from being turned into monsters.

Someone comes to you and says "I have this grea toolbar, perfectly safe" tell them to stick it up their collective asses - they are probably lying.

Alex

Two years in this biz, and still falling for some cheap talk about a clean toolbar.
Dawn, must be because i'm blonde |doh|
Looks like someones never to old to learn...

ronnie 2005-03-02 07:43 PM

Glad it got straightened out. Thought I was needing to remove a link.:(

Then again..
