Free sites and the use of flash

free site owners do you list free sites that use flah for there banners or site tours?
Or would it be advised to not use flash for free porn sites?

I have in the past but I'm really reluctant to now for a variety of reasons including that Flash banners do not show the URL in the status bar. It is also real easy to do some very evil things with Flash. :(

Your right about that. Im not talking a whole site in flash just .swf banners imbeded in the html page.
would that be acceptable for your site?

Cleo 2005-03-05 01:26 PM

I was talking about Flash banners

Flash as a design tool is very powerful, but as Cleo said, you can hide all sorts of things in flash, and the URL does not appear in the toolbar before you click it, so there is no way to know where you are going - effectively making it a very large blind link.

I am not sure there is an easy way to handle this stuff.

Flash requires active-x which is the most dangerous addon for a browser. A lot of surfers are disabling it (me for one), and it's really annoying when a sponsor that you'd like to promote uses flash for links. It's just like locking the door on your customers.

Whenever I get active-x prompt or errors in javascript I don't look further and decline site

I thought it was pretty snazzy with small flash banners, so I've accepted it in the past. But from today I will not accept anything with Flash. I just got a popup that was done from a flash embed, which is completely impossible to track from a LL script.
So no more Flash for me!

Sad thing is, flash has so much potential. Can do so much more, compared to regular banners. With banners pulling less and less, could use some new ways of advertising.
