Whats the most amount of $ you have given a bum?
 

The other day i gave a bump $10 cash and next thing i see while driving away, 2 other bums come up to him and jump him with an umbrella...wtf...maybe he owed them $ for crack? Pretty sad...

I think i'll stick to quaters .... lol

Once I had someone throw a 50 pence piece onto a coat next to me while I was sitting in a park. It made me think I should shave a bit more frequently. :)

I think I shelled out a $5 during the Christmas holidays.

I'm always leery about handing out money to street bums, because I have that paranoid thought that some of them are just too lazy to work.

One night about two months, my buddies and I were heading out on a drinking binge and we came across a bum. This guy was your typical bum: dressed like one, scruffy, missing teeth, stank of booze, red eyes, etc.

He asks my friend "Hanalee" if he could spare a dollar for a pizza slice. My friend struck up a conversation with this bum and they continued talking for a good 20 minutes.

As it turned out, the bum confessed that he need $10 more to go buy a "half-quarter of green" so that he could burn a J.

He also told my friend that he used to work in a specific neighbourhood one time and Honalee kind of related to the guy in some sort of cosmic sense. |dizzy| Needless to say, the bum that day ended up with $17 from Honalee! |ohhhhh|

Fast forward to just last weekend, we came across the very same bum. The guy not only remembered Hanalee's name and EVERY detail about their conversation, he gave Hanalee some good smoke too!

A nasty look.

Well, if we're not talking about ex-boyfriends or relatives, I would say the most I've ever given a bum was a cigarette.

When I was in NYC, someone came up to me and asked me for $$ and I said, leave me alone, I'm from the midwest!

Once in the bahamas, some little kid said he would dance for me for 25 cents, I told him I would dance for him for a dollar.

A newspaper did a feature on a busker/bum in London. It turned out that he owned 3 houses with no loans on them.

I'm not a very charitable person, at least not when it comes to giving money. Plus I pay for everything with my debit card so I usually have almost not cash on me.

Some of the worst smelling humans that I have ever had to walk by sit outside the local 7/11 where I live begging for money.

It's a bitch living in the tropics where bums have all kinds of tropical fungus and bacteria growing on their warm moist bodies.

I used to live in downtown Minneapolis, quarter here, quarter there, but that was in the 80's.
I can't remember last time I walked past a bum. There isn't any around here. Heck for that matter, there really isn't Anyone around here.

I saw a similar story years ago on 20/20 or nightline, it's amazing how much $ plp can make doing that. They showed some female dressed in completely fifthly rags work the streets and then take a subway to her parked car (BMW or some shit) and drive home to her house in the suburbs where she took off her “uniform” and cleaned up to pick her kids up from some private school. Of course they would not show her face.

In HS a friend did a report on it and went up to everyone asking to barrow a quarter and at the end he had like $47 in change.

I personally do not do it since I don't know if they make more then me or not, but in Key West we gave $2 - $3 to a bum holding a sign that said "why lie, I want to buy a beer and joint"

I was going to mention Minneapolis. It's the only city I've been where there just aren't any bums asking for money. I think if they need moeny and a place to stay they either move south or die.

I did give 100 Zloty to a mother and daughter begging when I was in Poland. It was Mother's Day. That was before W so it was like $25.

We pick them up in the spring. :D
Actually you're correct, it's simply too damn cold. You don't move here on purpose to beg. Those that are begging are local.
Most of the time there is enough shelters, but when it's like -20F, churches and stuff come into play.

There used to be a guy in Oxford that would half lie on the pavement (sidewalk) holding a puppy. He had the puppy because it made people stop and give him money. As soon as the puppy got a bit too large, he'd throw it over a hedge and get another one.

I almost get the feeling that some mothers do the same with kids.

I think it was $5 but it's because I felt sorry for his dog....lol |cry| I'm such a sucka!!!
