Affiliate programs which return your surfer--have they all gone away now?
Damn...sometimes you blink and they're gone...
It seems like only a year or so ago, there were some affiliate programs which had a means for you to specify the URL where you wanted your surfer sent if they didn't join the affiliate's site. In other words, if I sent a surfer to their site via an affiliate link and that surfer didn't sign up for a membership at their site, the surfer would be shown another window with whatever URL I'd specified. Sometimes this was done by opening a new window on exit from the tour pages. Other times it was done by opening a new window at the beginning of the tour and "blurring" it under the main tour page so it would already be there if the surfer closed the main tour window at some point. I like the idea that if surfer didn't signup, I could either pull the surfer back to one of my pages or send them on to another program that I liked. Present day -- I've been searching for some programs that offer this, but so far I haven't been able to find even one. I know this must have gotten much harder to do with the new generations of popup blockers and tabbed browsers, but has it actually become impossible?! Does anyone know of an affiliate program that offers this today? Or do you remember the names of any of the programs that used to offer this feature? Simon :::scratchinghead::: P.S. I always want to be straight with you here, so I'll tell you that I'm asking this for a specific reason. I'd like to add this ability to our own program but if no one else is offering this now, I'm thinking that maybe there's a good reason. So I don't want to go too far down a dead-end road if this is just undoable now. |
:::grumble::: Really should read the welcome page here more often :::/grumble:::
I always come straight to the board and missed that there's one sponsor with traffic back listed right on the welcome page here. Still looking for more, and more input though. Thanks! |
Those are very few and far between. Think it's come down to getting what they can out of the surfer. They lose a chance sending the surfer back.
Just my 2 cents. ronnie |

But I'm looking at this from the other side. I'd like to give the affiliate the surfer back when I'm done if I can't convince them to join our site. I don't want to beat them up first. I just want to have them see our no-popup tour and then, if they don't signup, pass them back to the affiliate (or on to wherever they'd like). I'm a believer that the surfer is only on loan to me, so I want to return him when I'm done (if I can). Still hoping to hear from anyone who can offer some guidance on this. Simon |
I was actually going to set this up as an option on one of our sites the other day w/ nats, but was side tracked and have not gotten back to that project. What type of traffic are you looking to send? I'd assume it would be fetish, but you never know. :)

I'd really like to see this working somewhere. I signed up for a program (advertised here) that offered it yesterday but their return traffic feature doesn't seem to be working. Or at least it doesn't work on any of the current Mac platform browsers. Waiting to hear back from them about it. Quote:

We're signed up to FetishHits but the traffic back exit scripts only seem to work in some browsers, and not if popup blocking is turned on. Simon |

ARS still has it. You can use the c=http://www.myexit.com parameter. They do hit you for $5 less though, the same as a no-console link.
