Sponsor replies to emails.

That considered, what where you expecting?

Now working on the 3rd sponsor to drop that hasn't answered or changed anything.

Greenguy 2005-03-09 04:20 PM

What would be nice is a "we're looking into it" email so that you at least know they got it & you feel a little better about things :)

Of course, you also have to take into account the time of day, the day (weekend, holiday) but I'd say a sponsors goal would be for you to hear back from them within 1 business day at the most.

I picked 12-24 hours because I think it's reasonable if it's a completely blind/unlooked-for first contact.

On a 9 to 5 style office email account, it could certainly be a day or so without much stretch of the imagination.

I personally leave my email program open 100% of the time I'm online, and it checks for new email every 10 minutes because I want to be quick if theres an affiliate question or issue addressed to me.

It depends on the reputation and how large the operation of the sponsor is.

Generally, a sponsor like TCG, I'd expect an email within 12 hours.

I agree, you have to be a bit more patient with smaller sponsors. For instance either my partner or I will reply to any hunkmoney emails, but we are only online 10-12 hours a day and since we are both in Australia sometimes enquiries have to wait a few hours while until it is morning.

So I would say within 24 hours is quite reasonable.

cheers ,
Luke

I think 24 hours unless it falls on a weekend or holiday.

I've found that some of my really really small single amateur site type sponsors reply much faster than the big programs. TCG, for example, shuts down for the weekend. But many of the amateur sites, who are trying to make the most of what they have while they have it, check their emails 7 days a week. Though I am much more patient when dealing with amateur wives and their husbands because quite often they are still working their day jobs as well as whoring themselves online.

Stu Bradley Frosted Faces Frosted Bucks - I'm still waiting for your reply to the email I sent you on Sunday...

I'll just assume you're fucking your wms over and out you if you like?

Wazza 2005-03-10 12:37 AM

And in my experience most proggies are pretty bloody poor in their response time for emails

Well, you are in down under (btw, I love that place. Visited Sydney a few years ago, and loved the friendly people).

There's pretty big timezone gap, so when you're sleeping, most people in the states are awake.

Wazza 2005-03-10 08:10 AM

I appreciate the time zone issues - but I'm not talking hours here, it's frequently days and often not at all...

Wazza 2005-03-10 08:12 AM

And if you'd experienced the last few days in Melb. in what is supposedly the beginning of Autumn you'd vow never to return lol

Barron 2005-03-10 09:16 AM

I clicked on the 12-24 hours also. Depends when I sent the email, but I dont expect an answer until the end of the next business day. If its Friday or the weekend, I dont look for a reply until Monday.

absix 2005-03-10 10:07 AM

12-24 hrs :)

Mefo 2005-03-10 10:23 AM

at least within 24 hours

|pokefun| Totally agree - I just came back from being cold for 3 days in Melbourne - and all my skin feels tight and dried out from all the A/C...
Now more than ever before do I wonder why Melbourne claims to be one of the most livable places on earth. |satan|

The only highlight was Ozomatli live at The Prince (dump of a place).

Sounds like we could have caught up for a chat...

RawAlex 2005-03-11 12:15 AM

24 hours... except on weekends, where 48 hours is more likely. However, considering that programs should be checking to see if there stuff is up and everything, you would think they could also handle webmaster mail.

Even just to say "we are looking into it, we will get back to you in X hours / days"

Alex

i always like the "we're looking in to your issue/situation/request" email. even if it is automated, at least you know that it is in their system.

andrej_NDC 2005-03-11 07:12 PM

Most big programs reply within a week and sometimes it takes them even longer, its a shame...

amber438 2005-03-11 07:29 PM

I said 12-24 hrs also. That;s reasonable

George...have I told you I LOVE your avatar????

Opti 2005-03-11 09:51 PM

Sheesh.. you are an impatient lot.. if it isn't an urgent matter (and it rarely is) .. I don't even start to wonder until the 2nd or 3rd day :D

Kinky 2005-03-12 04:46 AM

I seem to never get a response a lot of the time, but then the problem I was inquiring about gets fixed which is nice, but I would like a reply just to let me know I am special :D
