Anyone seen BE COOL yet?

I'm very keen to see this.

I liked Get Shorty but wouldn't say I was hanging out for a sequel. I have heard a couple of rave reviews about it. has anyone here seen it yet?

No, but I've been meaning to see it...That's my type of movie! |bananna|

It sounds like even The Rock puts in a classic acting performance! (sending himself up apparently)

(If you check out the movie site make sure you listen to him singing) :D

The trailers look kinda lame to me, but that might not mean anything.
I hope it's good!

Ya, the trailers and commercials do make it look kinda lame, but I'd still like to see it.

I thought the same too, the trailers looked pretty dull and deficient.

The critics seem to say so too (29% out of 100%):

I should have gone and read those critics before going... I had heard the opposite from 2 critics I follow a bit..

Anyway, saw it last night.. as I said, I had high expectations... and it was good.. but not quite what I expected... "darker kind of funny" than expected... with some light bits that made it a little queer to watch, like it was dis-jointed but not in a totally bad way.

There was so many stars in it that it felt like they were introducing characters for the first hour.. and it played like a series of good scenes, almost sketch comedy show style.. but it didnt come together well as a single plot for mine... I would see it again though to make sure.. so I do 'think" i liked it.

The Rock and the Vince Vaughan were the standout characters in it... Uma was hot but had a pretty thin role.

lol..... "the Vince Vaughan" I bet he would like that. I saw the part with the Rock doing the scene from Bring It, as a monologue. I lol'd. I'll catch it on cable, though. I have all the movie chs... and there's little enough on them, as is. It didn't look like something I couldn't wait on.

I found that pretty interesting too, with the famous cast list.

I'd say almost all movies with a well-known cast (think Ocean's 11) do very well in terms of sales and critic reviews.

Anyone else see this movie? I plan on hitting the theaters tomorrow night.

JoeBlack 2005-03-12 01:48 AM

I myself liked the movie alot.

I thought that all the play on stereotypes where funny.

I would go see it again for sure.

pornrex 2005-03-26 04:00 PM

Ok, so I went and saw it last night...

Here are my thoughts on Be Cool's main characters:

1. John Travolta should consider playing other roles. His character hasn't really developed all that much since Get Shorty and his portrayal of a shylock is lame and excessively embellished.

2. Uma Thurman's role was very disappointing and one dimensional. It seems her acting abilities have eroded along with her good looks.

3. Harvey Keitel was pathetic. Case closed.

4. Vince Vaughn stole this movie hands down. His white man playing a black pimp was piriceless and worth the price of the ticket alone.

5. The Rock was also pretty good in his part. A littel more experience, and he may even be considered a pretty good actor.

Well, there you have my review of this movie. Hopefully, you guys have some thoughts to share as well, if you've seen it.
