Spyware Assassin has been shut down

The only reason I'm posting this is because they have an affiliate program and some of you may use it. I read on slashdot today that the FTC shut them down because their product was bogus and their site never really detected spyware on user's PC.

I suspect they aren't the only one. How about the Microsoft one as well - doesn't that leave adware in your machine if they've paid Microsoft to leave it there? Alexa for example.

I doubt there is adware in Microsoft's new spyware removal tool (not really theirs, they purchased a company and acquired it). That would just be stupid, and further degrade the company's image.

It was probably more of a PR boost than anything else.
