damn, google is fuckin strange !!

Hi,

I am tryin to figure out how google page rank works.

What is most important ? relevant links , if more trades than better , right description and keywords , am I wrong ?

Word : blowjobs

Why there is lot of shit ? Why sites with lower ranking are higher than sites with better ranking and more back links ?

I don`t get it , is anybody who can explain me this shit ?

thx,

Part of the Google business plan is to make sure they change their algo often enough that nobody ever really figures out what the fuck will give you good positioning in the SERPS. I've always followed the advice of those more skilled than I at SEO to optimize my pages based on keywords relevant to my content and get relevant links, and it seems to work so far. PR doesn't necessarily mean anything when it comes to SERPS...I've got a couple ultra-targeted mainstream domains that are PR4 and only get a couple hundred SE hits monthly, mainly because they are ultra-targeted sites.

Also, the word on the street is that Google decided too many people were using toolbar PR as a means of putting a dollar value on links as well as otherwise paying way too much damn attention to it, so now toolbar PR reflects the actual PR at some point in history and not currently.

Just what I've heard and seen so far :)

thanks MadMax , to generalize it, more relevant links can means better position

Basically, if you get relevant links you'll be fine.

Also, the Google page rank passed along to your site from people linking to you is also affected by how many other outgoing links there are on the page.

This isn't a fully accurate definition, but if you are the only outgoing link on a pr 4, your site would get a pr 3. However, if there were 10 outgoing links you'd get 0.3 (or similar) of page rank value from the link.

If Google sees lots of links to you from sites it sees as relevant to "blowjobs" linking to you, with relevant link anchor text then you're more likely to rank for that term.

But it'll all probably have changed by the time I get to the end of this sentence...

PageRank is one of the methods Google uses to determine a page’s relevance or importance. It is only one part of the story when it comes to the Google listing, but the other aspects are discussed elsewhere (and are ever changing) and PageRank is interesting enough to deserve a paper of its own.

PageRank is also displayed on the toolbar of your browser if you’ve installed the Google toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com/). But the Toolbar PageRank only goes from 0 – 10 and seems to be something like a logarithmic scale:

Toolbar PageRank
(log base 10)
Real PageRank

0
0 - 10

1
100 - 1,000

2
1,000 - 10,000

3
10,000 - 100,000

4
and so on...

Just want to add that anchor text links are very important nowadays.

When doing link exchanges, make sure you have a keyword-rich anchor text link on a relevant page.

I don't have a whole lot of relevant links pointing to a few of my domains that I get high listings for, but I'm still #1 for certain terms that I went for... :)
