Are geo targeted banners okay for galleries and sites?

Are the geo targeted banners like Adult Friend Finder and SPA Cash use okay to put in galleries and sites submitted to tgp's and link lists? I haven't really looked into how the technology works yet.

Yep, perfectly fine, and it works out great.

It seems as though AFF changed their Geo-IP database, because now my location isn't correct (it was before).

Cool. And I noticed that about AFF's banners. Now they all say Philadelphia for me and I'm a little ways from there. :)

As long as they don't see off any of the alarms for strange scripts & whatnot, they should be fine.

I was curious about this too but didnt go with it just on the offchance that it may trigger a gallery has changed type scenario.

Galleries have been listed on The Hun, and World Sex with them.

I just tried submitting a gallery to a tgp with an AFF geo targeted banner and the script rejected it because of a forbidden word. Probably 'frames'. But the geo targeted banners from Spa Cash don't have the word frames anywhere in the link, so they don't get rejected. I was afraid this might happen with some scripts.

That's interesting about World Sex. I think I submitted a gallery once that the script rejected because I had a flash banner in it.

The geo-targeted ads that are purely text are usually fine with me, but not the ones that also load thumbs. The thumbs are blind links.

I was going to ask a similar question.

DVD-Dollars only ships within the U.S. so I maybe want to flip out their link for some other sponsor for the rest of the planet.

as long as it's not php and javascript etc it's totally safe to use :)

if you're using somebody's else Geo-IP features - it's ok. Otherwise, make sure you have a solid server solution or you may get knocked pretty quickly if you receive a lot of traffic. The Geo-IP database would have about 40-50k records and queries may get very slow upon large amount of traffic. The good thing on MySQL stations is that you're not writing to the database, but you're only reading from the GeoIP database - otherwise you may experience HUGE MySQL crashes. Although - if you can handle your traffic proplerly - GeoIP is one of the smartest and useful things out there. If you have sponsors with tours in several languages and you're using a redirection script, it would be a good thing to hook it up with GeoIP for the exits. Speaking the surfer's local language would increse your convertions over time.
