The First Thing
If someone asked you what the is first thing you should do to get into the adult industry, what would you tell them?
|
"Don't post one line crap just to get your signature seen"

I'd tell them to bring lots of money and outsource everything.

I'd ask you buddy Mahoney why he's not allowed to post here :D
|
Hi Don, I'm going to give you a friendly wave. |waves|
But why is worldwidecontent redirecting to VictoriaGivens.com? And Greenguy now I'm curious... I've searched and can't find out what happened there... Damn, this board is so full of intrigue. |
Curiosity killed the cat :D
Nothing major, just one of the many off topic spamming fools that couldn't read sig file rules or adhere to board policies that we had to ban :) |
Well, to get this thread back on track, I'd suggest any newbie do some serious research into the niches they want to work in. I tell newbies to pick something that turns them on because they're going to be working this thing day in and day out, so they better like it. And if black guys don't turn them on in the least, don't launch a black site just because you think it'll make a shitload of money, not unless have a thick skin.
Once you've figured out some areas that interest you, Google some related keywords and see how much competition is out there and what they're doing. The last thing the web needs is another twink site, but twinks with low hanging balls might fly. You may find that there's just too much competition in a given field and taking a good hard look at what is out there is going to save you valuable time and money. Next, I'd look to see if there's any content available in the niches you've picked. If there just aren't any picture sets of twinks with low hanging balls, then you're dead in the water, aren't you. Unless you've got a camera and a line up of big nutted twinks. I'd make sure a newbie does all of this before they spend a dime on content, design, hosting, anything. Cheers Dzinerbear |
Buy a computer. :D

I know what happened with Mahoney, Greenguy, and I'm trying to make sure this is not the same type of situation. I'm an active part of a lot of boards and I'm trying to post questions that will get people talking and comments that will be fun and informative to people rather than just post about our content and specials. Maybe I'd better stick to answering posts for the time being before I try and start new topics. :) |
A while back, a certain adult company had some cousins that decided to start a non-adult subscription web site. Noone had any expertise in the 'hobby' other than the fact that the niche (neesh, nich, neeshay |mml|), was one full of rich (reesh, rich, riishay |mml|) people with lots of disposable income. Aside from no experience in the niche |mml|, none of them particularly liked the niche |mml|, and about 8 months later the site was shuttered temporarily. Seems that along with not liking the site, paying for hosting was also not something they liked. So, the server was moved from one place to another, shut down again, later moved again. The site is still up, but I would doubt there is much revenue being made.
So, I would advocate someone going into a niche that one enjoys or likes so that it is less painful drudgery when actually having to work. And work is also a key ingredient. Unlike years ago, it is much more difficult to make it in adult without putting in some effort. If you're afraid of work, getting rich is going to be a tad more difficult. Spend time crusing the boards and doing personal networking. Learn the players, learn the tricks of the trade, talk to people and get to know them. When someone shares a mutual respect, working with them, traffic trading, etc. is a little easier. Choose sponsors that are reputable and willing to work with you. You're not going to find too many sponsors now days that will handhold you, but, you will find plenty of community support out there while you are learning the ropes. And they will point you in the direction of decent sponsors. Boards like this one have a great resource list http://www.greenguysboard.com/resources/ to start with. Basically, everything you do in the business is like a partnership. Choose the wrong partners, and you make no money. Oh, and be sure to budget $5k for a really cool sig tool :) I hear its all the rage. |
I would say read read read, get to know the way of the adult world and start out small, prolly doing up freesites, avs sites and / or tgp galleries. Taking it slow will let you figure out what you want you want to focus on and how to do it.
And also, come on these boards and ask specific questions, although this thread is not a very nice example of us webmasters being friendly and helpful, generally for specific questions people will help. cheers, Luke |
Someone asked me about it last Saturday and I said don't quit your day job and it's long and hard - no pun intended.
