Can't uninstall Norton AntiVirus

I've been trying to figure out how to uninstall Norton AntiVirus and Norton Internet Security but for the love of all things holy I can't seem to find any unistall utility in the Norton folders and there is no mention of it in the Add/Remove programs. It came preinstalled with Windows with a new comp I bought recently and it must be the most intrusive anti virus software out there with bubbles popping up left right and center telling me this that and the other. I want to go back to my old antivirus but I would like to rid my comp of Norton first which seems more bothersome than any virus I've come into contact with before?

I know Cleo will tell me to buy a Mac :)

Hmmm
I just checked Add/Remove and I see it there.

Yup, add/remove programs in the control panel is the only way to remove Norton :)

Thats weird....I see only one thing from Norton - LiveReg and thats all. Windows won't even let me uninstall that because it's being used by Norton Antivirus.

The Norton spammers produce some of the worst stuff around. It's everywhere because shops and spammers get commission from selling it. It's old technology and it's on all the boards as having failed. It modifies Windows to such an extent that you can't uninstall it, and you have to re-install Windows. Your best bet is to take it back to the shop and ask them for an uncorrupted OS.

Was going to say the same thing - that was my experience exactly. The cool thing? Once I finally got that Norton/Symantec shit off my computer, I stopped crashing, slowing down, having to reboot and experiencing a million other tiny little quirks that my PC had developed due to "infection" by Norton.

I'm glad you were able to get rid of it. I tried about a year ago as he was screwing up my computer but I could not. I won't buy another computer if it had Norton installed.
