Adult WM Pet Peeves

Just thought I would start a thread to air some of the things that are a pain in the butt.

I would invite anybody to throw their own peeves into the list. Perhaps some of the LL/TGP owners. sponsors, and other relavent parties might pay attention.

PEEVE #1:
- Stop resizing my windows
One of the reasons that I have a nice 22" monitor is so I can have multiple windows open at the same time. And all the time folks are resizing the sucker to max. height/width. If you want to do it for the surfers, FINE! But don't do it in the WMs areas and frankly most all the sites look like shit at 1600x1200 resolution.

PEEVE #2:
- Blocking right clicks in the WM area
Yep! Some people disable the right mouse button in the WM area. Works real good when they say "Save this image" as a recip.

PEEVE #3:
- No active contact email
Many times I have tried to reach a WM because there was a problem with a posting script or something. They either don't list a contact, or they never read the email account that is listed. Glad the GG added that to the resources section. |headbang|

[/RANT]

Feel free to throw in your PEEVES at any time. |devil|

I also hate the endless pop ups that you get when you visit certain sites when you're looking for link trades with people GRRR

MadMax 2005-03-25 11:13 AM

One of my biggest pet peeves is webmasters who can find the right niche recip out of my 110 categories but can't find the same cat on the submit form.

Head Boy 2005-03-25 11:25 AM

Sponsors that insist on using flash links to get into their sites. I've removed some of the active-x routines from my pc, so I couldn't enable it if I wanted to.

ReverendSassy 2005-03-25 11:57 AM

What is so great about flash anyway? I mean for surfers it looks pretty and may sell but why do webmasters want it? Not that they do LOL

When I'm working at 2-3am and I mouseover some flash ad that plays music and it wakes my wife up. I have made it a serious habit to stop promoting affiliate programs that put them on webmaster resource sites(hint) and not signing up with them as an affiliate. I dont like it when my wife bitchs at me and it isnt my fault.

Webmaster areas that require more than 3 clicks to get to my stats.

Dumb shit coder wannabes that try to force load dailers, toolbars, spyware and so on, that get it wrong and crash every browser window I have open!

Obviously, Filthy Earl gets very few submits each day, but HALF of them do exactly that. I don't mind them picking the wrong category on the submit page all that much because I can change that. But when they using the niche's hardcore recip when it's a softcore site, that bothers me. If it's a good site I still take it since I really need subs. The ones who pick the wrong category are also the ones who write truly colorful descriptions like, 'Two galleries of blonde woman'.

ClickBuster 2005-03-25 12:53 PM

I mentioned some LLs that have the proper niche recip, but don't have the category on the submit form, what is that?!?

I as well hate stats that are too complicated to select. I hate when the sponsor provides content that is not matching the sites/tours I have to promote.

Or just the opposite, they pick the right catagory but have the wrong recip. Or ones that are to lazy to even chose right. Actually just submitters who cant submit right in the first place. Sure dont understand why it's so hard.

And spyware and adware.

I have a pet peeve about people that start pet peeve threads |couch|

SirMoby 2005-03-25 02:16 PM

Anything that creates noise. Banners, sponsor tours and even boards that allow noisy ads. I think this is the only place I still surf that has noisy ads and every noisy ad sponsor goes on my black list.

Useless 2005-03-25 02:22 PM

I guess you aren't a fan of screamers. :D

Yes, mark that down as one of my pet peeves as well. I know I'm not much of lay, but you'd think they'd at least fantasize about someone with the same name as me. ;)

Greenguy 2005-03-25 02:58 PM

I do have a pet peeve that's new - there's a sponsor that loads a console on their main/login page right over the top of the un/pw box, so as you try to type in your info to log in, the box pops up & fucked it up.

Like webmasters need fucking pop-up embedded on the affiliate program's pages.

Head Boy 2005-03-25 03:37 PM

I'm afraid I try to keep j/script disabled as well, so I don't get too many popups. :)

That's not a pet peeve. That's a sign of a company that has no concept of how the web works and they probably won't make you any money for long.

Ahh I remember that. I don't remember who it was though. I just know that I thought..... WTF? and I've never been back.

(but since I can't remember who it was offhand, I'll probably repeat the above again, at some point......... |dizzy| )

I know of an even better one than that - a sponsor whose join page produces a popup covering the credit card details form so you can't fill it in

Well now, that's about fucking rocket science.

ReverendSassy 2005-03-25 07:13 PM

Guess that just goes to show what I've always said ... You should always check out the tour that you're promoting to make sure that stupid shit like that and other leaks aren't happening LOL

HUGE FLASH FILES
I hate those huge flash files on sponsors main pages where i have to wait like 30 -60 seconds or so to load.
See, i need to sponsor to get some quick info and i wanna quickly check my stats. Huge flash files do nothing to me but get me away from that site.

HARD TO FIND LINKING CODES
I subsribed to some sponsors where i had to try hard to find the linking codes to their paysites.

But all in all, most programs out there are really great!

Sometimes I wonder if that's not a deliberate policy. It's probably much more profitable to get affiliates to send you traffic that you can use to promote other sponsors and then sell on exit. It saves you all the bother of actually maintaining a paysite.

ReverendSassy 2005-03-27 04:00 PM

LOL Head Boy ... It makes you wonder then why/how they stay in biz
