Went to the Eye Doctor Today

So, I finally went because of my headaches. I found out that I have a dry eye and need bifocals :) The doctor said, this would cause the headaches. They gave me drops and I am just about blind right now :)

I ordered my glasses and had a coupon for $200 off on sunglasses. Snce the frames on the sunglasses were $130 and the frames on my regular glasses were $200, I figured no problem. The total came to $1050 with my $200 coupon. Bifocals are really expensive :)

I wonder what it would have been if they hadn't marked it up after you told them you had a coupon. :)

Jim 2005-03-28 05:28 PM

They kind of got pissed off because I forgot about the coupon until they gave me the total :)

good luck with the bifocals Jim. I tried but just couldn't get the hang of it

These are called progressive lenses. They gradually change strengths from top to bottom.

I got bifocals with progressive lenses about three months ago, it was like walking around drunk |dizzy| I ended up returning them for regular glasses. I can live with squinting half the time. Goood luck! |cool|

My mother has progressive lenses. I've never figured out why someone who spends half her waking hours laying on the couch watching tv needs $1,000 glasses. Just one of the mysteries of life, I suppose.

I have progressive lenses. They annoy the hell out of me so most of the time they go unused. I see pretty good without glasses but really should be wearing them when I'm at the computer. Next time I get around to getting new glasses I'm getting ones just for working at the computer.

Hope it cure the headaches. I started getting headaches a while ago and I turned the brightness and contrast down on my monitor. It seems to have fixed the headaches, but I have to highlight the text on some sites now to read it. Makes you realise how important good contrast is on a site.

I bought a new pair of glasses a couple of months ago. Designer frames, scratch resistent anti-glare lenses. Basically the entire works. I bought them in Bulgaria for less then it costs me to purchase sun glasses here :)

A trip to the Optometrist south of the border cost me under $50 included full exam and new lenses in a frame I had
I sat and drank beer and squinted at the Strippers (while waiting for my eyes to undialate) four hours later I picked my new glasses up.

My favorite glasses right now are a pair of Foster Grants I picked up a few Satudays ago because I went to a internet Cafe to catch on the bench and discovered I had left my glasses in my Hotel
These glasses don't weigh anything and the lenses seem to be scratch proof (cost $17) |thumb

Went last Saturday. $600 for hubby and myself with not so great insurance. Progressives, strong rx, coated, etc. for both.

Jim, I'd check around on price before I'd pick them up.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Nina
