What are the do's and don't of making a free movie site?
What annoys a reviewer the most when it comes to reviewing a free site with movies?

well, I only know following rules:

movies in total at least 120sec long
and each movie at least 10sec long

and of course: the better the movies are the more is the chance that you get listed ;)

When I review a site and the graphics load very slow I can say almost for sure that this site will have movies on it.
Almost 50% of freesites with movies on it that get submitted to me are hosted on slow servers. Reviewers don't like to wait 2 minutes before a movie has loaded.

That's what annoys me the most :)

The example you gave was one of the good 50% :D nothing wrong with that site.

The reason for that is probably that webmasters tend to use free hosting services when hosting movie galleries and their associative files.

Doesn't make sense to me, since freesites are not the type of sites that get loads of traffic each day. To me, the bandwidth is manageable-- If you're on a dedicated server.

If your on a free host forget about getting listed. If the server is slow forget about it.

That site you did is very nice.

Overall the problems I see are slow servers, blind thumbs, short movies (must be 10 secs at least), overcompressed movies and the blind link I hate is More Free Movies Samples Here when the link goes to the sponsor. Yes the sponsor has trailers but ALL sites do now mostly so I decline for that blind link.

Make sure that your movies are protected against hotlinking. You can use htaccess for mpegs but need some sort of script for Windows movies.

I had a coupe movie free sites submitted the other day. None of the movies worked and some went to 404 pages. Dont see why some one would'nt check to make sure everything was good to go.

I'd say keep the dimensions at least 320x240, anything less is too small these days.
