Word Press Frustration
 

One thing I don't like about Word Press and I haven't been able to figure out how to fix is that the categories won't display in alphabetical order.

So if I have these categories already made:
apples
grapes
oranges
pears

And I want to add, say "blueberries". Instead of putting it between apples and oranges, it puts it at the bottom of the list. :(

Anyone know how to fix this?

In 1.5, its fairly easy to do this. goto your dashboard and goto Links, Link Categories, click on 'edit' for the link category you wish to edit.

listed there is 'sort order' it gives you 5 or 6 choices:
Random
Name (alpahbetically, and this can be descending as well)
Name Length
Rating
Updated
ID
Url

Setting it to name should do what you're wanting it to do. Not sure if this works for older versions of wordpress.

No, because I was talking about categories and not links. :(

For instance let's say I have this:

Site Categories:
Amateur
Anal Sex
Big Tits
Gay
Tranny

and I want to add "foot fetish". It will put it at the bottom below "tranny".

What you are talking about are the blogroll. Where you link back to other sites, I'm talking about internal site links.

Does this make sense?

I'd post a request in the plugins and hacks section at the wordpress support forum. IF thre isnt already something that would do this I'm sure someone can work it up for you.

as far as I can tell categories currently can only be displayed by the number they were added. that's pretty lame indeed :(

There already is a fix for it and it works.. mine are alphabetized and I've added a new category since I changed the code :)

I always had the same problem. My problem lies in being able to add stuff on the sidebar, header and so forth. My php skills is not something to be proud of, and i have a problem editing stuff, because i am afraid i will mess everything else up.

I just kind of did it the same way I learned HTML for the first time. I took it and shoved shit in there and saw what it did. After a few days I got the hang of it and I always kept backsups :)

Haha, the funny part is that i used the same method to get it going. Sometimes being afraid to try isn't going to get it done. I know how it works now, I must admit that i am very happy with myself. :)
