I think that needs repeating for the benefit of those who think PR is some kind of God. So I will:

All you new search engine guys are real earnest and sweet and all that.

I've been around a while, I know exactly what effect pr has on traffic and position.

I wasn't saying anything about how having a pr10 might affect your traffic. I was talking about how the site in question's cute use of the redirect trick might have affected his traffic.

Big difference between the two issues.

Like Alex suggested, it presumably crashed it. Not that I care enough to do an analysis of it over time.

It's the redirect trick, the fellow redirected his page to Yahoo.

Some SEO yokul convinced him, or perhaps he convinced himself, to use one of the google hacks popular some months ago.

My bet is absolutely nothing. The only thing he would probably gain from it is:

1. No penis pills for a week, since he felt a PR10 was enough of a penis boost.
2. Maybe some $$ for links that were bought by some schmuck who thought his site was actually a real PR10.

But I think that's about it.

I'm sure he probably got a couple more hits than previously because his site has been displayed on a few other boards as well.

Other than that, like swedguy said, there is no benefit.

Billys has been a fairly well known member of the gay traffic scene for years. The equivalent of a Smut Gremlins. Not the biggest, but well regarded.

He had a 5 for years.

He's lost all of his google listings, or more accurately, almost all of them. I didn't check what this did to his yahoo listings.

It's a shame. It was a crazy thing to try. I was amazed anyone was dumb enough to do this with an established site. I wonder if it's possible to recover from it...

Moral of the story? Be wary of the latest google hack.
