World of Warcraft - anyone? :)

Hello, Blizzard released another great game, got my box today and I'm gonna spend some hours/days/months (?) playing it :)

Anyone is playing it here, over GG&J forum?

I dare not start that thing :)
Played A LOT of MUD back when I was at the university... nearly cost me my degree playing day and night and never studying... so no... no WOW for me.

blind 2005-04-20 10:51 AM

I'm scared a bit too, but well... we will see what is gonna happen in next weeks :)

I'm a big UT/HL geek as well. :)

I've also played the first two Warcrafts a bunch.. but not the latest massive online one. If there were a few more hours in the day I'd try it out.

I have to live my fingers from such games - if not I can't stop anymore unless my box gets destroyed or electricity goes down :D

Im getting a copy as soon as my hand heals. I'm upgrading the my Inet connection in a few weeks and the massacre begins! Ive been told the EU servers have a limit of 25k players and that on weekends there're people waitin to get in...

They are adding new servers very often - I think they didn't expect such a popularity of it :)

Boogie 2005-04-20 04:47 PM

Blind.

I've never admitted this publically I think but there is always a time for it.

Dont let these kinds of games get ahold of you. they're addictive as fuck. I spent the better part of 3 or 4 years playing everquest every day.

There was quite a rush from leading 72 people deep into the plane of earth to defeat the gods that reside there. Was quite a rush from standing over their corpses handing out the items they dropped.

Something you want to be careful with these games are designed to keep you playing more and more and more each time. ;)

blind 2005-04-20 04:49 PM

Yeah, games like these are the future. I will try to play a 1-2 hours a day and then focus on business... If this will be possible, I can fell how it is addicting me LOL :D

Torn Rose 2005-04-20 04:52 PM

I so badly want to play them. But I will NEVER try them since I know I am an addict and would lose it all just to play.

Xbox is my bane, but I can go months without playing, but when I play I play hardcore for days at a time.

powerful the darkside is.

blind 2005-04-20 04:56 PM

Great idea would be to build a guild with GGJ folks, it's impossible unfortunatelly, coz the US citizens and Europeans have different servers :(

Boogie 2005-04-20 05:05 PM

level 38 warrior on Killrog, undead, LFG for SCARLET MONASTERY!

:(

busted! haha :D

natalie 2005-04-20 05:39 PM

eek I have ppl trying to get me to buy wow but I know how addictive it is so no way! I already play an online game in a clan (geek!) and that takes up a cpl hours 4 nights a week. I am also one of those ppl that finds a game they like and refuse to try anything else for ages, I have been playing this one for over 2 years at competition level lol.

Trev 2005-04-20 07:15 PM

I haven't played an online game in years. I wouldn't even let myself play Diablo2 online and it's just hack and slash. I played one of the early ones, Meridian59 for a long time, and was one of the beta testers for Ultima Online, but never played the full game. I knew I would spend way to much time.

Joe 2005-04-20 08:41 PM

I don't know why I even bothered buying World of Warcraft after I admittedly spent endless hours on Diablo 2.

Anyways, I'm a lvl38 Shaman on the Mannoroth server -- FOR THE HORDE!

I take 1-week "breaks" (I try to resist the urge to play), then go back to playing. Works out well since there's a feature called Rest XP which allows you to gain close to double the experience from killing monsters if logged out for an extended period of time.

MeatPounder 2005-04-21 12:08 AM

I myself do not play WOW, but in one of the online games I've been playing for years a ton of my fellow players do.

I Gave them a semi open forum at a Message board I have

Most of their threads are open, they play on Dragonmaw?

You might want to check out my board if your into WOW

pornrex 2005-04-21 02:07 AM

Coke and Heroin are much less addictive than this stuff!

I can just picture you people salivating at the mere thought of playing these games.
I used to be hooked but no more...keep it away from me...oh shit...not I can't...ok maybe just one...and that's how it always starts.

Same here...UT / HL burned way too many hours for me though. I had to give them up when I started writing porn pages...just no time to keep up the skill level.
