CeCash - why easy if we can make it complicated...

After yonks and yonks I dared to have a look at the CeCash site again, basically because I wanted to use more of the free mag links in simple text on my new tgp...

All I want is to see if the links I have from over 2 years ago are still valid, and maybe get a full list of current links.

WASTE OF TIME!

I log in and all I get is that waffle of Newsletter which I trash every week in my email because it's 3x the length of what I like to read with a link to my stats on top (great - I have some $163 sitting there - never mind) - no link to my linking codes!

O.k. - back to the so-called newsletter - skim the bloody thing - yeah - here we are CEMags - and it a link - - - which opens another CeCash site (the one I remember from 2 years ago) with another log-in and no simple link code list to be found...

O.k. - back to the front page - sure I saw there a link to TOOLS - click it first time - server times out, click it second time - get a list 3 pages long, but no clickable links because I'm not logged in, though I did it already twice...

O.k. - log in again - seem to recall at some stage you could get the links from the stats page - ah - here we go - tiny graphic telling me GET BANNERS in squashed up capitals. Pop-up, takes aaages to load - and then: I can get ONE LINK AT A TIME and it tries to load me like 15 different banner-come-cover-graphics for each and every mag....

Fucking would take me half a day and cost heaps of bandwidth (yes - I have to pay a fortune in bw: $0.139 per MEGABYTE = that's Australian prices for you = $139/gig!!) -
where I only want a list of all linking codes nicely on one page, best as a simple .txt file!

Ah - well - FreeTicketCash will be happy about this!

|pcsucks| Typos - yeah - I'm angry! |pcsucks|

GeorgeTH 2003-10-29 11:41 PM

...which reminds me: before the Hamster died I once had a short discussion here with Fantasyman that I would (maybe) advertise their sites more if I would know what to advertise and where to find the info about their sites - didn't help much - did it?

George, I have to agree with you. I think CECash could really use a new design, at present it's damn near impossible to find the stuff you want quickly.

It would be nice if they separated out their various program areas too, I still get confused over which one I'm using... I keep asking myself "Is it Pay It Forward or Follow Me Free which offers the $25 free trials... ?"

Boogie 2003-10-30 12:14 AM

I flat out love CE cash, my biggest producer for a long time. Promoted them for literally years, since my first days on the net.

That said, I do believe its a little more difficult to get to the stuff I want than it should have to be.

There are some other companies out there that are easier to use, and there are some that are MUCH more complicated. (ars, comes to mind)

Overall though, their cash is worth the hassle ;)

GeorgeTH 2003-10-30 12:21 AM

Follow up: after I closed the CECash site my browser refused to connect to any site (sites I could get with Netscape 4.7 on same connection) - shut IE 3 times - everytime it froze, so I had to re-boot! Probably because I didn't wait every time for all the scripts to execute...

ARS - yeah - another great company: they closed my account in 2000 for "suspicion of cheating" before I sent my first hit to them! I joined them, didn't get around to use them straight away because I was confused by their site, so after 10 days (!!!) I received an email that my account had been closed for "suspicion of cheating" because I didn't sent traffic and joined under a friend's referral code - that was that - bye-bye |angry|

matt 2003-10-30 06:04 AM

Haha, I still can't find anything on the ARS site... Too much effort to promote them, I could earn twice as much using another sponsor because I can get things done that much faster.

And what the hell is a PIS?! :D

Jim 2003-10-30 06:13 AM

CECash redesigns more than any program I know. It's tough though...they constantly offer new programs and have to build on a current design.

Stick with it my friend...it will be worth it.

Cleo 2003-10-30 07:04 AM

I agree about CE, I barely promote them because of this. The worst thing is when I do get a check from them I have no idea what it is that I sold and can't find anyway to find out. Don't even get me started about what their site looks like in mozilla.

ARS is also suffering from blot. It shouldn't take me 5 minutes of clicking just to see what URL a sale came from.

Jim 2003-10-30 07:24 AM

It is the same thing with all major programs. They add so much so quickly, it's hard to add on to the site. But as we all know, redesigning a site is very time consuming. I have never had problems with checking stats or getting links from either ARS or CECash.

And eventhough I have not submitted sites or galleries in over 6 months, I still get nice checks from both.

Both programs mentioned have boards that will help you. I am not familiar with the ARS board but since I used to run the CE board, I know Rowdy does a great job. I never send anyone to another board but...in this case, go see Rowdy at
http://cewebmasters.com/index.php

He will help anyone with anything to do with CE. Mention Jim sent you :)

I agree. Some of the sponsors out there are hard to interpret and CEcash is one of the worse. I just stopped promoting them. The worse part, as far as I am concerned, is that they do not commmunicate. I had a couple of questions but they just do not respond to my emails.

I think there are a lot of sponsors (not just CE cash) who make life a little too complex with regard to their site navigation, stats, link codes and banners.

Time is money......... and I ain't got either.

Rowdy 2003-10-30 09:35 AM

GeorgeTH, for some reason I really don't remember getting an e-mail from you to rowdy@cecash.com as I have always responded to all mails and have been willing to help basically everyone that asked for it.

First, it sounds as if you're using an older account in which case it would be in your best interest to sign up for a new account so you can participate in all the newer features and benefits. (This depends on how old the exact account is and if you mail me your account number or username, I can verify if this effects you or not)

Log in ... you can do that here - http://coolwebstats.com/cgi-bin/stats-index.cgi (or at the top of the cecash site)

Once you have logged in, you should see a list of programs that you are signed up for. Here, you can click the get banners button or view stats for each program.

Now we do offer a show all codes link although your account might be one of the older ones that was not affected by the updates. (Thus why I suggested signing up for a new account as many updates didn't apply to the much older accounts.

If you have any difficulties with this or need assistance, you can post on the CE Board or write me directly at rowdy@cecash.com as I try very hard to make sure we offer some of the best support in the industry.

grandmascrotum ... the payouts for the programs are shown on the first log in area when you see all of your accounts under "pay rules"
Again, if you need assistance, please feel free to write me and ask.

Boogie, good to see ya dude :)

Cleo, as I've said on CE's board, if you or anyone else need payment history tracked or explained, just drop me an e-mail as I'm almost always available for assistance. (Sorry I can't help on the mozilla issue although I have addressed your concerns to the proper people.)

Jim, thanks for the heads up and hope you're having a good one :)

ardentgent, I respond to all mails received so if you have not written me with your concerns, please do so and I will try to be of assistance.

So in closing here, anyone needing assistance can simply write me and I'll do whatever I can to help out. Thanks and have a good one all.

Cleo 2003-10-30 09:49 AM

Rowdy with all due respect I shouldn't have to post on a board or send e-mail just to see what site made a sale for me when I get a check. Actually I tend not to promote a sponsor that I can't easily see what has brought me sales. I do not check my stats often and basically decide what to promote each month from what has generated sales previously and the checks that I get is where is look for this information. It should at least be in the stats area or even better on the check stub.

And it is not a Mozilla thing, it is any browser except IE. We don't all use Windows computers and even those that do use Windows don't all use IE. It is a pain to open a browser that is not normally used and not even an option for people who use Linux.

Jim 2003-10-30 09:58 AM

Cleo
Much easier than comparing checks
http://ggaj.revstats.com/

Rowdy 2003-10-30 10:02 AM

Cleo, you do not have to write as the information is in the stats area and my offer was a gesture of assistance to explain that process to anyone that had a problem with it.

I learned a long time ago that no matter what a person/company does or how hard they try, there will never be a case where everyone is happy. So, with that in mind, all I can do is extend the offer of assistance and from there, the choice people make are their own.

For those that use CE and are happy, great! For those that are confused, there is help available. For those that choose not to use the help or do not like any one detail to an extent not to use CE, that's their choice.

There's really nothing more I can do beyond what I have.

Good luck to all no matter which of the above choices they prefer to act on :)

CaptainJSparrow 2003-10-30 10:36 AM

Hi Guys,

Thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth on this discussion. We've been advertising CE for years, and don't have any problems with them. I understand their stats, and I'm not the "sharpest tack in the box" when it comes to looking at stats because I don't do it daily...someone else in my company does that. As for problems, whenever we've had minor things like checks being late Rowdy and Nancy are on top of it. Other than them switching to a new payroll company, or something such, and occasionally mailing instead of fedexing our checks, we've never had problems with CE.

urb 2003-10-30 10:47 AM

Leaving CE aside for a moment.....

I am astounded at how many web sites are built just for IE.

Anyone who is in the business of building web sites should be capable of producing browser independent code.

But hey.... I'm just some mad guy. |crazy|

jennym 2003-10-30 11:55 AM

I check my stats for CE everyday (in Netscape). Never had a problem located links, stats, referring URL's or anything else for that matter.

Rowdy, you guys are doing a great job, thanks!

Of course EVERY site could use something better, but overall I give CE thumbs up!

LilBiggz 2003-10-30 03:51 PM

Wow, I have never ever had a problem getting help or information out of ce cash. As a matter of fact Jim was the guy who helped me make my first dollar with that program by helping me with a tgp gallery through the ce board. Rowdy has since taken over that position and I know he takes it very seriously. I can not even count the times Rowdy has helped me with questions about ce cash... Just my 2 cents

GeorgeTH 2003-10-30 07:36 PM

...gosh - that would be my third account with CECash! - how often do I have to change accounts to keep up to date with their changes - and who's changing my links to old accounts???

dareutwo 2003-10-30 08:52 PM

Have you met FM, Rowdy, Dokk (early days)?
(and NO they are not anywhere near my major income source - just steady and reliable)

CE has been around since I started in this biz - about what 3 - 4 years?
I'm guessing that GG and Jim have both made a fair amount of coin with CE.
I promote CE through 3 different programs depending on what's required, though not to the extent of hundreds or thousands of hits.

I had a FAQ clarification on some content about 6 months ago. Rowdy answered my email within 45 minutes.

Do I use IE - yes.

As far as sponsors go, CE will not be on my delete list.

Cleo and other non IE users - tough call. Though I've found if you access what you're looking for from your stats and not from the main page, it's a lot easier.

Jim 2003-10-30 09:32 PM

Some of you might not know but I was the VP of Marketing for CE for almost 2 years. I know their stats and admin inside and out. Damn, FM never even blocked me from entering their admin. I haven't tried in some time but I would bet I can still get in.

CE was my first Click Through sponsor back in 96 and I have never stopped sending traffic to them. And, i never will stop sending traffic to them. In this day and age, it is hard to find an truly honest sponsor. CE is one of the best.

I used to always say, "say what you want about me. say what you want about FM. But never disrespect the program.

How many of you remember when CE first started and the way it worked was this. You sent traffic to them for a week. The following week, CE sent you a check for the next month based on what you sent during the first week. That is a program you can trust and respect.

There are a few programs I feel strongly about in this business and CE is on the top of the list. If there are any questions about their program, ask me. If I don't know the answer, I will get someone here to answer you within minutes.

And ARS...I remember Mark back when he was one of the first to only offer feeds. Then came breathless boys. He is another that has earned respect. And after all, respect is all we have in this business.

As a matter of fact...if you see any programs banners floating around on this site, please use the help desk. I know I have been busy lately but I will get to it. I know a lot of people in this business and I always get an answer.

Bottom line is this...when there is a program that has been around as long as CE or ARS, show them the respect they deserve. You will find that you will get that respect back 10 fold.

lassiter 2003-10-31 01:10 AM

Well, I agree a bit with everyone here. :)

CE Cash has never been my biggest sponsor (in my case, my own pay sites are) but they've always paid consistently and on time.

On the bad side, yes I agree the multiplicity of programs, different affiliate codes for different programs, and less-than-intuitive access to certain website features can be a pain. A pain that is not helped by the lack of support for Mozilla and other non-IE browsers. Some things (like linking codes and some banner features) just do not work except in IE. |sad|

And yes, if you only check your stats once a month or less, you aren't gonna be able to tell easily where your sales are coming from - most of the program stats only go back 2 weeks, sometimes 3. Maybe that could be fixed, guys?

On the good side, since I do check my stats at least once a week, I've never had a problem knowing what program is getting me sales (though AFAIK, ya can't determine which specific referring URL the sale came from - another thing it would be nice to see fixed, though few other programs in my experience offer that info breakdown either). Plus, whenever I've had any sort of problem with anything CE-related, a quick post on the webmasters board or an ICQ to Rowdy had gotten everything resolved quite quickly, sometimes within 2 minutes. |thumb|

Ya learn to appreciate the good guys when there are so many other companies that think customer service is a dirty word. |swear|

So no, as frustrating as a few things are, I'd never drop CE - they've been really good to me always, even though I'm not even close to being one of their big income generating affiliates.

Kush 2003-10-31 02:28 AM

CE cash used to confuse the hell out me, but once I figured it out I actually very much liked the program. You can get ALOT of data out of this.

What's better yet, is that it works wonderfully with StatsRemote, which seperates all of CE's programs and gives accurate stats on everything. I like CE cash ;)
