Go with someone willing to help you and appreciate your business. May I suggest hosthead, http://www.hosthead.com/ They are plans starting at about $7. I have been with them for two years. Brad and Eli have been great to work with.

Ask 'em for a small list of clients (virtually & dedicated) and then ping 'em to see how fast they are.

Command prompt C:\ping www.whatever.net

Compare a few hosts and you will be amazed at how they differ.

Economy without speed is useless. :)

|waves| Hello Grand,

Here are some of the questions I would suggest:

1. How stable is the network & when was the last time that there was an occurrence?

2. What kind of Tech Support is offered (Live, 24/7, IM, Remote-Hands, Ticketing, etc.)?

3. Besides email & IM's is there a direct phone number for emergencies?

4. Who are the bandwidth / upstream providers?

5. How long has the company been in business?

6. Do they offer a Service Level Agreement (SLA)?

7. IP's or websites that you can reference for current hosting?

8. Are there servers; Managed, Semi-Managed, or Unmanaged?

Of course there are other questions you may want to ask potential host and some could even be specific to your applications but I agree with Chop Smith, pick someone who appreciates your business!

Good luck with your search,

Hey Grand :)

Nice chatting with you the other day.

Are you pinging from Eastern Canada? Just curious

How about when you ping here:
http://216.226.136.142

Any better for you?

The pings time are all revelant to where you are in the country. Like for me, I can ping to that same network in 15ms because I am very close to it. So of course your surfers are coming from all over the place and times will vary.

Let me know how our other network pings for you :)

The answer to all hosting is OXEO.com.

Contact Alek and tell him Peter from Team Perfecto Sent you.

Hearing from people that like the host that they are on is usually a good start.

M3 Server hosts all of my stuff. I'm very happy with them and have been with them for many years. I have a couple of dedicated managed severs with them. They have always been there for me when I needed something and my sites are always fast. :)

Go to M3server.com or use the drop down menu in my sig which also has my affiliate code in it.
