Building Adult Search Engine
 

In a genuine effort of building independent adult search engine and portal [JoyScape], I need your guys' input. As a webmaster, what facilities you would like to see us implementing, what puts you off or on when you want to get listed in such a newish adult portal (other than obvious traffic generation - which we are making some headway in this direction)

All suggestions are welcome in any aspect to make JoyScape a webmaster friendly place besides being surfer friendly.

An interesting project. IMO you are losing tons of potential ad pace with big banners on the results page. Instead I would have 4-5 nice text links.

I know go2.php is a bit of a double edged sword. It's been implemented to avoid rip-off spider bots. Some other well known portals [Yahoo] has been doing the same and asking $600 per year to be or to be considered to be listed, or was it the other way round!

No, I am not comparing JoyScape to "Yahoo". They are #1 while we are hovering around #58000. At present we can just dream being a "Yahoo" type of resource for adult content surfers and webmasters.

You know you don't have to build a search engine from scratch, you can use our resources and make some nice money off it. We pay our traffic affiliates 50/50 net off the click.

Let us be broad minded adults. Plz remember we do not have any content that you point out on JoyScape, we just list them like others such as Google. However, one area that we feel very strongly and don't list under any circumstances is sites that feature or promote under-age sex and sexual acts. Where did you get the idea of Lolitas???

I'm not clear what you refer to as "Free Sites" and "Individual galleries". Plz enlighten me...

We are based in the Netherlands. Over here attitute towards sex and sexuality is much more relaxed than many other countries. There again, if we are trying to build a global adult search we need to show some respect to other's feelings and views but NOT those impotent & frigid censorship freaks.

You have 45,000 odd TGP galleries listed on there.. but not one free site? That doesn't make sense to me... and it looks like your a big TGP with some other bits added on.

I realise that the netherlands and europe are a little more open than most.. but as you said aiming for a global audience means looking at your biggest market and their reactions to what you have. I am not saying remove anything.. what you link is your choice.

I will assume your personal view is that it's wrong for any website to have anything to do with the subjects you have highlighted. Therefore you are against it and they should be banned, barred and so forth. If I'm wrong plz correct me.

In light of the above assumption, I had a look "Danger Search" and found a result for the word "******" and "Incest" Also shouldn't you remove "We will list anything!" phrase from your forum signature? Plz understand, I'm not criticizing you or saying right or wrong for having THE words or the links. I am a true believer of free speech and freedom of choice.

On Monday, when everybody is back, I'll put beasty stuff on the discussion table for whether we should keep it or remove it. I'll announce the outcome here.

I can not accept censoring any word whatsoever. I'm sure you know yourself that some webmasters uses inappropriate words and phrases to describe their site. We don't need to go in detail discussion here. We are living in a multi-dimensional world. Plz try to see more than one of them. Remember they first burned books, then...

Sorry but I can't agree with "and it looks like your a big TGP with some other bits added on" There are plenty more useful, mostly hand picked sites - unlike some who just copies "DMOZ" without even any credit. Perhaps, you didn't have enough time to look around properly.

Again, there are a lot of free sites listed in JoyScape. Just look at any category accept "Membership Sites". Our definition of "FREE" is as the word meant to be. When you ask a fee for a site it's no longer free. Therefore we don't classify AVS sites as free as long as you have to pay to access, no matter how big or small that payment may be. Mind you we still list them.

Maybe you are referring to the sites as free, those offer few Image galleries with plenty of ads. Well we will still list them when they are submitted, as long as it's not overwhelmed with banners and ads. Also, we will not list just an affiliate entry page.

We list direct links to galleries in line of the feedback we get from the JoyScape surfers.

In closing, I have no intention of bitching anybody or their business here. I prefer to provide and receive constructive feedback and help where I can.

MML made one point better than I could.. If you want to be a everything to everyone "portal", thats fine.... but things like... having beastility links off your front page are not going to help..

Nice looking site, looks like a lot of work went it to it.

Bestiality is legal where I live, but I choose not to list it at my link list. To each their own I always say, but that doesn't mean I will list it. Personally I think it is far worse to kill animals and eat their flesh then to have sex with them, but then I find both pretty fucking gross.

The kind of content you list will reflect the morals of the site's owners. It will also affect who will link to you. I will not exchange links with a site that promotes bestiality and especially ****** stuff.

It is your site so do what you want, but understand you do not operate in a vacuum.

For me this means listing basically anything between two consenting adults. This means nothing under 18 and no animals.

What about, if we stick to proper definitions instead of the words that can be interpreted differently by individuals subject to their point of view. I prefer to use the term 'underage sex' instead of the word '******' and other slang. What do you think, Cleo?

Also, is a "free image and movie archive" like a free site? I find that fairly confusing. It seems that there is no definition between tgp-type pages and real free sites with a warning page.

Kim, IMHO, you shouldn't of had to put it to a vote. Bestiality and other wonderful subjects that were listed just ain't good business. The processors of note won't process for it, I don't Visa wants to process for it, so there is no way to turn it into money.
