Question .. are you making more this year than last?

Theres a lot of oldtimers on here (no offence :D), and with so many guys complaining about diminished margins and falling profits I was wondering, are you guys making more this year than you did last year ?

Are profits for you on the increase or decrease? I am still experiencing growth, but the rate of growth has fallen.

Gross billing up 34% over last year -- happily, since 2001 I've maintained >20% growth.

Right now, my net is 11% behind last year due to a number of factors. I expect that to recover and be even around July 1. By Dec 31 I expect to have a considerably higher net % than last year.

definetley YES
but no more than it was in 2004.

I am not so far , BUT i have new project coming up, so i hope i make more than

Well, it really all depends on how you look at it:

If you look at Jan thru May of each year, I made more last year, but that was only because ARS was still kicking ass Jan-March 04.

If you look at the avg I made per month last year compared to so far this year, I'm down a bit as well (about 7%)

But, if you look at April & May compared to the 15 month avg before, I'm up :)

I've made much more this year, but that has a lot to do with finally allowing my head to slowly retreat from its encampment in my asshole. I've also moved from a $15 virtual hosting account to a dedicated server. I still don't use anywhere near the box's resources, and most likely never will, but it has allowed me to progress and experiment without worrying about bandwidth overages or having other people's sites slow mine down. Plus, I HAD to work more to offset the cost of the server. ;)

Last year was good, but this year will be much better!

You think thats more to do with Link Lists in general, or other things ?

Greenguy 2005-05-27 08:30 PM

Since most of my income comes from the link lists, I'd have to yes yes, as it applies to me & my sites/income.

I was just comparing and I`m a little behind last year so far. But close enough to make it up so it`s a bit early to tell. Plus I think I`ve been able to go at it less after my second offspring was born last summer. I might be ahead otherwise.

Making a little more, but haven't grown as much as I'd have liked/thought so far this year. That does seem in line with most people though, so I'm not unduly worried just yet.

Same here - definitely growing, but not at the rate I'd hoped. But I was kind of hoping for a miracle, so I really can't complain. |thumb

(Call me back after June 23...)

Let me answer this in a better way, as I was thinking of this in the shower this morning :)

I did do a few things that when you combine them together, are probably causing my good fortune over the last few months:

1 - I had someone look at & touch up all my pages as far as SE's go

2 - I switched to console free tours on any program that offers them

3 - I verified every paysite link code that I have (you might remember that thread)

I think all 3 of those are the major factors in my modest turn around as far as income goes.

GeorgeTH 2005-05-28 09:44 PM

Short answer: yes, more than last year!
But mostly due to the fact that last year I was busier with other stuff and didn't submit anything...

Then again: a lot less than 1999/2000! |cry|
Probably only about 30% of what it used to be back then...

I would say that WITHOUT A DOUBT, this year has been much better than last year. While some of the programs i used in the past have lost steam, I have taken on some new ones that have done very well, and my core business is still solid.

I am also doing more video editing which is generating additional income I did not see last year. While it is still not as big a number as I would like, it is coming up.

Most importantly, my actual traffic (banners displayed) is up over last year same time, and the click thru rate is up by about 0.5%, which is an improvement.

The next few months will be very telling for this industry as the 2257 rules (may) come into place which will change the direction of many people and move some traffic around.

Cleo 2005-05-29 08:25 AM

This year is looking to be my best every. :)
I just closed out this month's books and I hit a new high for this year and it is close to my best month ever which was December of last year.

I just hope that it continues through the rest of the year. :)
