No Refer Available

Sometimes I get hits and or sales from N/A, refer not available. This happens to me with different sponsors..different billing companies etc. Any idea what causes this?

On an average day I send a few thousand hits to my sponsors using CCBill, right now that number is up a lot but it says refer NA and it's driving me a little more insane

Some privacy software blocks the referrer, hence, an empty referrer.

Sometimes bot software that follows links will not send a referrer.

People that cut and paste a sponsor link and go to it won't send a referrer.

I'm sorry...I guess I worded it badly sometimes I feel like I'm the one who's english is a second language....

Today I got a sale on a site I promote. Me, wanting to know more about which TGP gallery or free site sent the hit that converted into a sale. Instead of a refering URL it just says NA.

I got credit for the sale...just not any information about where the sale came from.

If that makes any sense.

Many things can block the referrer... and there's not much you can do about it other than wait for the next sale that tracks.

Thanks cd34...that's what I worried about.

I sometimes show a 1:0 conversion ratio on a sale for the same reason, and different stats tracking software handles stripped referrers differently. For example, on some of my NATS programs I'll see a sale with "bookmark" as the ref URL. As long as I get paid I don't worry too much :D

This is one of the frustrating things about this business, not knowing where all your sales come from. Some times you just dont get a referer, suck, but happens. Like Max said, long as we get paid..:)

Yeah, I guess it could be worse. As long as the checks keep coming I can't complain.
