US 2257 - How Has It Changed Your Adult Business Plan?

WIth the new 2257 regs just weeks away, I am re-evaluating my adult business plan. Have you done so already? What have you decided?

I am switching to all stolen content. This way, when they knock on my door I can honestly reply, "I stole the pics. How the fuck am I supposed to know if the shit is legal?" Hey, my ignorance has gotten me this far.

Truthfully, I'm just riding it out. I haven't pulled anything and don't have any intentions to do so thus far. I'll put the required 2257 statements in place, but in no way will I have all of the newly required documentation. At least they'll have my home address so they can visit me and hit me with sticks if they wish. Well, after they get around the dogs.

Not me, I plan to keep on not making any money for as long as I can!

LOL. I'm going to ride it out too. But I'm setting aside time prior to the 23rd so that I can run around getting things in order if need be.

Somedays I come on here and some of the posts scare the hell out of me. The thought of jail kinda screws with head. Then I read posts that calm me down. I'm new in this business compared to a lot of you. I only have a few over a 100 sites that I have found so far. Call me a dumb noobie but I'm waiting till the end. I figure it will only take me a few minutes to notify LL and dump every thing and start a new..... |dizzy|

I'm in a holding pattern. I'm organizing and contacting sponsers and content producers about getting docs. If the law is blocked then cool. If not I will have some work to do. My plan is this:
1. If the site has sponser content or content I bought and I now have the correct docs, no problem, it stays and I add the urls to my database.
2. If the site has sponser content or content I bought and I can't get the docs for whatever reason then I will either replace the content with like content that I do have the docs for or just 404 the site. I may make some basic sites that I have the docs for in each niche I work in and upload those in place. So if I have a cheerleader site and I'm using sponser content and I can't get the docs for it I yank the site and put up a replacement with content I have the docs for. I'm planning on making a 404 page that simply says something like " due to circumstances beyond our control this site is no longer availible please hit your back button to return to the site you came from" I may or may not put a link to a sponser on it to make a few bucks on the side :)

From what I understand most link sites and TGP's seem to be understanding about 404'ing a site. If I start getting blacklisted for doing this I will deal with that when the time comes.

This is something that should have been discussed in more detail before we all said 'pull your links and don't let the door hit you in the ass'. I'm seeing an increased amount of submitters 404ing to their own traffic sites and I cannot explain how much that pisses me off. A simple 404 page with a couple of adds wouldn't have bothered me. I'm holding back on my urge to blacklist people right now, but I still look at it all as a voluntary thing. The submitter decided to duck and run. I shouldn't have to pay for their cowardess with my traffic. The entire time I'm thinking - great, these cocksuckers have thrown in the towel and they don't mind fucking me by pissing off my surfers. Makes it pretty damn hard to maintain a clean site.

yeah I understand. I've been around awhile and plan on staying around so I don't want to screw up my relationship with any sites that is why I decided to make a very clear and freindly 404 page. I think I may put a link that says . "If you want porn go here" or something like that and link it to a FPA with some sponsers on it. No pop-ups just if they were looking for something they may find it there and if not they can hit the back button a couple of times and go back to the site they came from. I may lose a little money doing it this way, but I think I will keep my relationships in tact and that is more important to me in the long run.

Resuming what my attorney recommended when the first draft came out last fall - not using any "actual sexually-explicit" content. I've still got a few questionable banners up but they are coming down bit by bit this week. Gonna concentrate on text-link things like my mini-TGP, switching my toplists to text-only, and only using tame softcore sets if I start building galleries or free sites again. The idea is that I don't want any sites up that will actually fall under 2257 or Part 75 rules, period, since I work part-time from home and simply cannot be here all the time during "regular business hours."

I don't think I ever really had any of my old free sites submitted to you, so I'm sure I'm not one of the people you are talking about, But I made every effort both here on the boards and via email to all the LL owners that might be affected, of exactly what sites I was bringing down last fall, with about 3 weeks advance notice. And then, on that date, yes, I 404ed 'em mainly to my own text-link traffic pages or straight to sponsor tours, you bet. I still have, or had, decent SE traffic that I was trying to take advantage of, since taking those sites down hit my sales (such as they are) pretty hard.

I presume the only LL owners who might have blacklisted me for that (and I don't know of any offhand but there may be some since I hgavent been submitting free sites since last fall) are the ones that don't check their email. 'Cause I made every possible effort to let them know.

Now, as for people who bring their sites down and do 404 redirects without even making an effort to advise the list owners, hell yeah, blacklist 'em all, I say! |devil|

Only thing so far is loading my paid content into a DB(prob a good thing anyways). Not fussy on building 2000+ where-used-records for every gallery, free site, etc. that I have built. Also, really don't want to run around and get docs from sponsors,TGPs,MPGs,LL,etc.

Content providers will be off the 2257 page, and replaced with a request to show LEO ID and duties before I even think about releasing personal info.

And dumping $1000s of content because DOJ wants to back date new rules is dumb!

But, being in Canada, I will wait and see for awhile.

i'm still trying to find out if the content i have is 2257 legal :( some of the IDs i have i can't read there so dark i emailed the content provider about it they gave me new 2257 docs for one out of 8 sets and didn't say much the content is solo girls and show pink so i *think* that needs clear ID's :(

chilihost 2005-06-09 02:48 AM

On the hosting front, I know a few smaller clients will be shutting up shop, but since I setup http://www.chilihost.nl and am offering offshore hosting, things have been booming!

On the porn side of things, I have documentation proving that all my content is legal - absolutely nothing has changed there! And since I am located in Australia, use EU billing and host in the Netherlands I can't see any problems. I am looking forward to less competition too :D

cheers,
Luke
