Got a free gift from Cingular

I found out that they have overcharged me since Christmas for my kids phones. We were on the family plan with them and they were charging me separately. I threatened to move to verizon so, they gave me a shit load of money back and sent me and my wife two new Razrs :) Nice phones indeed :)

Cleo 2005-06-11 07:49 AM

Motorola phones have software and address books that suck

Jim 2005-06-11 07:52 AM

I use neither and they were free. That counts a lot in my book :)

terry 2005-06-11 08:44 AM

Free is always good.

Of course, I would like any phone with voice dialing and a speaker phone :)

Oddly enough while going through my neighbor's drawer of phones that he isn't using, he buys a new one a few times a month, I saw that I had a choice of borrowing the Motorola Razor or the Sony Ericsson Z600. Both of them suck, the Z600 is bulky and the Razor while being kewl looking address book still only allows one phone number per contact. I went with the Z600 but I'll be glad when I have my Sony Ericsson T610 back.

Jim 2005-06-11 10:43 AM

I could have had the T610 but I didn't like the way it flipped open. I never pick the right phone. And I swore off Motorola a long time ago. But, what the hell?

Cleo 2005-06-11 11:15 AM

T610 is nor a flip phone. I don't care for flip phones.
T610 phone

IMO Sony Ericsson phones have the best software which is why I like them.

I have a set of rules for mobile/cell phones.

Battery life in standby > 5 days
no flip
no external antenna
must have a belt clip accessory, preferrably without a leather case
must have a large populous using it. I hate being leading edge. I prefer stability over wacky features I won't use anyhow.

It limits my phone choice, but, my average phone has lasted 5 years. I do miss my nokia 6160. I think I have 3 years in on my current phone and it still works like the day I got it -- and still has the plastic on the crystal. :)

I had two of those Qualcomm Palm Pilot phones in 3 weeks. First one was really my fault. They didn't have a belt clip so I had it in my shirt pocket when I went to check the water in the pool. The second one had a faulty antenna -- they offered to replace it and let me know it would take 5 weeks.

So, I went back to my old trusty Nokia 6360. :)

Been having major issues with my handset while driving, it keeps falling off my sholder. So I picked up one of these bad boys. I figure I can find one of thos rubber sticky things that will hold it there.

lol

Hey that is my phone on that headset.

The most important thing for me in a phone is it needs to be really small and sync with my laptop. All my contacts, to do list, and calendar is on my laptop and I want everything to sync with my phone. Other then that it also needs to be rugged since I tend to drop, step on, run over with my car, and just really abuse all my phones which is another reason I don't like flip phones as every time I drop one it seems to break the hinge.

This is a list of phones that sync well with my laptop out of the box without needing any other software.

nothing beats a good CLI for a cell phone.

I really do want one of those old 1985 Don Johnson IE Miami Vice big ass white cell phones. I dont know if they would still work but I know some services still offer analog. I can't find one tho. I want a real one not a reproduction. I can see it now. Me sitting by the pool, the phone rings and I have to open my Gym Bag just to take it out lol

Oh shit, my last phone was just like that. I hate a phone that has to be locked just to make sure you don't call someone by accident. :) I have done that a few times. Called my wife once when I drove from the house and she heard me talking to myself :)

dareutwo 2005-06-11 09:21 PM

I threw away all cell phones and pagers last fall.
Haven't missed them a bit. (sort of like ICQ for me Jim)
If you can't find me online (12-15hrs a day) that's your problem.
And when I'm at the cabin - I'm at the cabin!

Locks after 10 seconds. You hit command * to unlock it and make a call or hit any key to answer it if someone calls you.

I'm stuck using this Z600 flip phone for the next week until my replacement T610 gets here. I forgot how much I truly hat flip phones.

Jim 2005-06-11 10:04 PM

I know...I just hated doing it to make a phone call. I loved the rest of the features but that having to lock it or make an unwanted phone call is a pain in the ass. And seems exclusive to Sony Ericson.

Amen.

I haven't had a cell phone or pager since my brief satellite dish gig a few years back. I don't want to be called while I'm driving. I don't want to be called while I'm shopping. Hell, I don't want to be called at home. If it was at all practical, I'd get rid of my landline.
