Question for Danger Dave

DD, I have been submitting sites to you for a bit now and have yet to be listed...I was wondering if you could please take a look a the one below and tell me what you think my problems might be...this is just one I have submitted but my sites generally follow along the same lines as this one (with different layouts, etc.)

http://www.dirtymartha.net/F/hotneig...tte/index.html

Many thanks in advance, Maggi (magpie)

DangerDave 2003-11-04 08:33 PM

magpie,

dirtymartha.net is on my blacklist :(

multiple sites with same title as sponsor used.
hidden domain details
different submission emails/names

lots of things that ring "scammer" alarm bells... |sad|

Now that I know who you are...:) I will get it off today

Nothing at all wrong with this one... http://www.dirtymartha.net/F/hotneig...tte/index.html

Shoot it in now - http://www.dangerdave.com.au/cgi-bin/engine2/add.cgi - it will be up today;)

DD

Cleo 2003-11-04 09:42 PM

I listed you. :)

But this "different submission emails/names" will get a submitter banned. It strange, but reviewers do remember affiliate codes from site to site and seeing the same codes with different names and when I see it I go through and delete and ban everything.

Not directed at you, just a pet peeve of mine.

DangerDave 2003-11-04 10:30 PM

Definitely Cleo!

One of the commonest reasons I BL now is.... multi submitting under diff names and emails... even if they arent scamming.. they are going to be shortly;(

Thanks guys...the reason for the email change is bc I was using a work address and just got another email up and running that isn't attached to my work domain. I have kept the same nick...as I hope to be recognized in the future. I really appriciate you looking into that and you can expect sumbmissions on a reg basis...and Cleo, thanks for listing me!

I think the first site I submitted had the same title as the sponsor but I have learned since then and don't do that any longer...as for the hidden domain details...what do you mean by that so I can look into it?

Sorry about the problems...and thanks again!

magpie 2003-11-05 09:26 AM

Just a question...in the future, if I need to change email addys, should I post here or email you all to let you know?

Thanks, magpie

About the multiple emails, domains, names, etc.

We have 2 servers, Kathy does her own thing with her server and I do likewise. BUT, Where we live(out in the sticks) the only alternative we have for high-speed service is Starband Satellite and we have our PC's networked.

When we submit Kathy uses Kathy(Patches) and she likes to use the email associated with each of her domains. When I submit I simply use my starband email account and my nick ezryder. Everything might be ok so far, BUT when you folks see the submission all you see is everything we submit coming from a a single IP because, of course, of the networking.

DD used to list just about everything I submitted(don't know about Kathy), but lately I haven't had much success with DD.

Don't know if this is actually part of the problem, just a thought.

That should not be necessary magpie... we usually get to know peoples submissions pretty quickly.:)

I can't speak for others, but when we review for DangerDave... submissions get marks against them for various reasons.. fakenames, fake emails, duplicate submissions etc.. and if the domain info is also hidden then thats another mark against the submission. eg: Magpie.. your domain

EzRyder,

You redirect shit like this

and you get blacklisted |pissed|

EzRyder that's a pretty rough 404 page you've got going there... It's my opinion that forcing a surfer to shut down their pc isn't gonna make you any sales...

EzRyder 2003-11-06 08:38 AM

DangerDave,
As I stated some time ago on this very board, when we had to change hosting companies, I did miss re-uploading some sites, especially the older ones, those did not get priority as they were not getting much if any traffic.
At least I know why you don't accept anything from me, and I can just move on. Thanks for pointing it out.

matt, as far as the 404 page being aggressive, if joe surfer goes poking around trying to by-pass pages and just go to the pics or worse, he/she ain't too much interested in paying for anything.

You should not assume that only some free loader is going to get your 404 page. Reviewers often do when you mess up a submit or the times when you forget to upload a page. Serving up a popup hell does not give you sales and just pisses off everyone.

Just my 2¢

Thanks for clearing that up...the reason for the hidden domain is acutally my husbands job...if ppl were snooping around and found it was registered to me...he would most likely never teach in this area again. :( The new domain I secured does not have a hidden domain tho...Maggi

Sarah_Jayne 2003-11-06 10:13 AM

magpie..have you considered getting a mail forwarding address. I know mailbox etc do them over here in the UK and as they are a new company to this side of the atlantic I am sure they do it in the States. You have a proper looking address and they just forward you any mail to it.

I've done that now and using it for my domains since I got a few letters from an inmate who looked up my domain details after seeing my photos.

magpie 2003-11-06 10:37 AM

sarah_webinc; That would be a great idea if my town wasn't so freakin small...unforntuatly, the person who owns and runs our local UPS Store (formerly Mailboxes ect) is the husband of a fellow teacher who works with my husband AND the folks at the post office know me by first name...and where I work and what my husband does...lol.

That was my first domain...and I was very nervous about folks finding out, however, I am less and less concerned with the school or parents finding out seeing as I have no pics of me and don't use my name...plus - if they are nosey enough to look up my info, I would doubt they would admit that in public, especially in this small ass town.

So you decided not to upload the sites .. it wasn't that you couldn't ? just that you didnt want to..:( That leaves them redirecting for me and my surfers...

Not good enuff IMO

Magpie,

Hidden domain details is not a rejection or blacklisting "offence" in itself.... so it should not be a problem. It's is only when it is matched with other "problems" that it counts against you.

As you have done... the best security is to "get known" and use one lot of submission details.

As Cleo said... a "bastard" 404 page does you no good:( especially when a reviewer hits it because of an error.

DD

EzRyder 2003-11-06 04:01 PM

DD,
Cleo has a valid point. And I am going to see what I can do about the 404 pages.

I did not post to get into a "verbal sparring match" with you as I have received quite a bit of traffic (and some help from you pointing out some CSS errors I had on one of my sites) from you in the past. It's your list and I respect that. You can run it anyway you like. I just flat did not know what the problem was. Now I do.
I was wrong, made a mistake, screwed up, call it what you like.
End of story.

If I was intentionally trying to cheat you or any other link list operator, I doubt that I would have ever posted anything on this board about not getting listed by you anymore.

Thanks for your thoughts and have a wonderful day.

DangerDave 2003-11-06 04:56 PM

EzRyder,

Part of the problem is people dont bother to find out... You did and that is good.

I banned a guy the other day and he emailed me a truckload of abuse... that was after 80 submissions from him that were all declined.... go figure:(

I am not looking to make enemies either..:)

Fix that 404 page...
Shoot me an email with your domains
and we will get them removed.

DangerDave, can you review my site http://free-porn-xxx.biz/teens/cute-teen-girl/ please? I submitted it to your linklist more than a week ago, but it haven't been listed by your linklist yet.

Am I blacklisted?

I'm not a cheater and I always try to follow the rules of linklists. I'm also the owner of linklist http://www.hqpornlinks.com/. |shake|

Thank you in advance,
Yahook
