What % / amount of links went 404 in the last 30 days due to 2257?

Me almost 1000 links. 10% of my total.

Anyone else?

swedguy 2005-06-27 05:05 AM

I haven't really kept track, but I'd say 5+%

stuveltje 2005-06-27 05:28 AM

i am running bots now thru the different linksites i review, i can say it are alot at wlfp it will be about 2000+ or so the rest me still checking, i will be so fucking busy the next days :(

Greenguy 2005-06-27 08:21 AM

We were removing 150-300 sites a day before 2257 & aside from the 22nd-24th it was average.

Cleo 2005-06-27 08:26 AM

3000+ links gone here in the last month.

I was talking to my porn connoisseur neighbor yesterday and he asked me if there was something up because he noticed that there was a lots less porn and some of his favorite sites had disappeared. So I told him about the 2257 stuff.

I just looked at the Link Bot totals for shits & giggles:

Total links on May 15th - 13905
Total links on June 24th - 13645

Not that much of a change.

I removed about 550/10% here, unfortunately lots of great sites from good submitters.

Ramster 2005-06-27 10:06 AM

I removed a lot as well. Maybe not quite 10% but I'd say about 500+ links. :(

RawAlex 2005-06-27 10:25 AM

I removed a good pile, but many of them were from regular long term submitters who seem to have moved on. I wouldn't say 10%, but it has certainly been a pile.

More concerning to me is the number of sites I have found with the index and main pages intact and the galleries removed. That is just a dishonest way to do things.

I haven't found any of those yet, but I haven't done my manual reindex (which is the only thing that will sort out all the mess). Got any submitter emails/domain's you'd be willing to share?

Linkster 2005-06-27 02:57 PM

Im removing in the neighborhood of 2-300 per day - about 3500 down in the last week - I also have noticed a bunch where the bot is reporting ok - but the inside of the sites is down - with placeholder pages to fool the bots - so Im in the middle of a full manual review of all links.

I also thought it appropriate that most free site submitters should know that at least us and a few of the other major LLs out there - if the bot finds a 404 or 302 - which is fine as we posted before - the usual approach is to have the bot remove all of the sites on that domain - might be kinda hurting people that are submitting again and still taking down old sites now

Well, Fuck. Just...fuck. I had to delete a couple sites from my primary free site domain and now, looking back at the listings, I see that dozens of sites that are still up have been deleted. I had no idea that was the policy for so many of the big LLs.

Thanks for mentioning that, linkster, time to warm up for some resubmitting |thumb

We've removed about 1200 sites - that's approx 12%

That's just gotta suck big time....hopefully you can get your sites back again and to others. I know for us, I've removed less than 100 but made sure those sites were absolutely non-functioning. For the regular webmaster submitters, I've asked them to give me an update on what sites they were changing or removing so I would not accidently remove the wrong ones...

Looks like everyone has lost some number of sites....

Vivaldi 2005-06-28 09:19 AM

Around 10% here as well ... & I don't have the nerv jet to start manual checking :-(
