Why would you name a free site directory '32015561'?

Am I wrong for being annoyed by this? To me, it's just nuts to name any directory anything but a potential search term. Who the hell is searching for 32015561? Does this person really submit to soooooooo many link lists that he/she has to name his/her directories with an 8 digit number? I'm going to say the same thing I said constantly to my kids when they were 1 and 2 years old - "Use your words you little idiot!"

Don't even let me start talking about the submitter who puts things in a directory named 'random'. No, that doesn't make me nervous at all as a reviewer.(note the sarcasm)

Just the other day I searched for 3201556, perhaps he's a search term squatter. Looking at my referral logs, I see a number of searches for 3201557, dealing with homogenized porn downloading.

I have a lot of content in a directory called random too -- although, there is nothing random about it. Everything is sequential and organized.

:)

It's the new Digit's Fetish!

It means that you have received the submitted site #32015561

It is site #320, and you are on doorway page 15561.

In other words, the total traffic that will come back to you as a result of listing this site is a number between zero and none.

I know a guy which names his MGP galleries by date. ie 260705. But he's not concerned about the SE part with the mgp galleries. with this #, however, I dunno. Why don't you ask that person and let us know.

32 - number of site, 01-number of directory, 5561 - random number. :) This is my site..

plateman 2005-07-26 04:23 PM

I think I know which free site submitter your thinking of UW and I think its strange to use a combo of numbers - but what can you say..

I'd take UW's advice on naming the directories using key words, you might just be better off in the long run.

BTW, what's the point of having the random number? Just curious.

I put my all freesites in the one folder. I have ~150 folders in this directory It is hard to find something, if you have 150 random named folders. Numbers help me to organize my sites..

Just name everything with the date since epoch.

I'd be late for lunch :D

I typically ban submits ending in a series of numbers which have no sponsor link. Or have sponsor link and you click it and returns you to the gallery...call me foolish |bananna|

DSS 2005-07-26 08:34 PM

i guess if he doesnt mind the whole number business, let that big dog hunt as my g-pa used to say.

if the site is of quality, well i would let him in my directory.

Very good idea, search engine spiders avoid sites like that. I can't find the article to quote exactly why but it had something to do with the spiders going into generated pages and getting caught in an endless loop. There fore when they see something like that, there is a very good chance the spider will move on and ignore the page.

Let me just say that I consider myself a pretty fair reviewer. If you submit to the wrong category, no big deal. If you submit with the wrong category recip, no big deal. If you submit a site with pics of a 20 year old blonde getting banged to the mature category and refer to her as "a mature brunette", no big deal - I'll edit the description and put it in the right category. And I don't pay a lot of attention to directory structure. My job is to look out for the best interest of the surfer. Things like this make me do a double take - and that's bad for you as a submitter. One could at least slip the word cocksucker into that random number.

webmaster2732 2005-07-27 04:32 AM

Ok, I will not use numbers, if you don't like them. By the way, I have google and yahoo trafic, I think SE don't ignore my websites.

So if the 5561 is simply a random number, where does the organization come into play? If you have 150 random named folders or 150 random numbered folders?

I understand the 32/01 bit that you explained, but why bother with the random number at the end then?

I'm just curious... :)

swedguy 2005-07-27 07:16 AM

I've heard that it's good to put the Google Priority ID base64 encoded in the URL.

http://domain.com/dessolute-young-grannies-with-perky-saggy-tits/VHJ5aW5nIHRvIGdldCBteSBHb29nbGUgUHJpb3JpdHkgSUQsIGh1aD8gOyk/

Has anyone else heard about this? Good? Bad?
I might give it a try for my next sites and see if it works.

Linkster 2005-07-27 11:10 AM

Swed - its dissolute not with the e :) gotta learn your russian better than that

Anytime I see those numbers at the end I auto ban them as that is how a few autosubmitter programs number the doorway pages by default unless you change them

Since it's such a competitive phrase with lots of typos, I'm trying to get all the typos for myself ;)
