You pretty much can search around the forums and get a pretty good idea which the big ones are...most of the big ones have gone green or partner account only...so you'll have to work on building a reputation as a submitter, get partner accounts at smaller places, and work your way up.

Thehun is the biggest, but there's lots of other big ones, like, umm...what's the name of that place...it starts with an S...umm...I think it ends with a P...but the name slips my memory at the moment.

Tommy 2005-07-29 10:37 AM

I would try the hun

Surfn 2005-07-29 04:32 PM

What's a TGP?

+hun.net - free to submit, only every 3-4 days, but thats all you need, if youre approved. dont submit if youre on a poor server with low bandwidth limits.

+tommys-bookmarks.com - need a submit pass, well worth it

+worldsex.com - can apply for a free submitters account but still hard to get listed

+shemp.com

+thumbzilla.com - little or no chance of submitting without a pass. theyve a good system you can submit 30 gals for 30 days; in theory its good, i havnt tried it yet.

+richards-realm.com - you can still submit for free and get listed, depending on competition in the category.

both richards and tommys I can personally recommend. the other sites anybody will tell you are worth your time.

keep your galleries clean and the content fresh and you'll do fine getting listed.

Check out who they all trade traffic with to find the other high traffic sites, ive missed quite a few.

Doug E 2005-07-30 03:39 AM

also, for niche galleries, check out alexa.com to see how they rank sites by traffic. I tried to find it just now but no success. I was on it once and it was great, gave me the top ten ranked sites, by traffic and according to alexa, by category. Very useful if you can find it.

qwert 2005-08-01 03:03 PM

Thanks for the info Doug_E!

what kind of traffic/convertsions are you getting from richards and tommys??

Useless 2005-08-01 03:24 PM

I don't know how anyone could tell you how their conversions are at specific places like that, but some people do have far more sophisticated link tracking methods in place than I. Also, keep in mind that one person's ability to convert is going to be better than the next. The site being promoted may convert better than the next. And don't forget to mix in a little internet voodoo. I hardly ever do anything with galleries, since free sites are more my game, but I can that I've definately made sales from Richard's traffic. I've never been listed at Tommy's so I have no clue there. Richard's free site traffic kicks in (usually) a couple of months after a free site is submitted and everyone elses' traffic has died down, so that is why I can differentiate. As a rule, I don't makes sales. I honestly suck at this. I just won't go away, that's all. ;)

Surfn 2005-08-01 03:43 PM

TGP conversion ratios are extremely subjective. What works for one may not work for another. In this day and age find out who will list you. Then start refining your sales text until you get your conversions to where you want them to be. Since I'm a greedy bastard I always try for conversion in less than 1:100 and have had much success with that.

Starting off I would shoot for 1:1000 then keep working it until you get to 1:500 and start duplicating that and keep refining it until you get where you want to be. This time of year is very difficult for good ratios because mainly the hardcore surfers (the leech's) are the ones that surf. They can be converted by you need to have your "A" game on to get them to convert.

The upside of summer for a newbie is they get to try different TGP's and find out who will list them for the fall :D

qwert 2005-08-01 09:45 PM

Thanks for that info Useless Warrior, Surfn

Surfn - when you say 1:1000 what do you mean 1000 views of the gallery, or 1000 clicks through to the sponsor??

Also what are the good and bad seasons for this biz .. I gather summer is slow.

Clicks.

Any time other than summer is good. The best is December and January for most webmasters.

like UW and Surfn were saying, 1 its hard to keep track exactly of each gallery, and 2 it really depends on the individual galleries. Ive had some god awful results and some great results. All depends on the gallery content and if I can get those gal views to goto the sponsor, if the sponsor has a good site its a good equation. No sense using a sponsors kick ass free content if the surfers only going to be turned off when he reaches the sponsors site. Theres a few like that, great content for galleries but a shabby non converting site.

Yes - I vaguely remember an email saying something like "..as soon as a submitter spot becomes available I'll send you a password - won't take long" - it's now that long ago that I can't remember anymore when it was... |cry|

But I still have the email as proof!
The password will probably come once I've retired.

cellinis 2005-08-04 09:45 AM

Yeah that S....P pass will probably never open iup! Being relatively new in the biz, I know that's probably one of the last ones I've never tried :(
My personal sales record has best results from:
hun
tommys (I seem to make a sale a gallery and a sale a free site at least from him!!!)
pinkworld (SP)
worldsex
thumbnailpost
gallview
askjolene (depends heavily on which niche I submit)
al4A
videopost.(movies only)

Surfn 2005-08-04 02:32 PM

Shemp is one of dwindling number of good guys in this biz. I'm sure if you follow his instructions, for applying, he would be glad to help you out.

I didn't chase it too much because in the back of my mind there are some thoughts about retiring - but that's a cat which should still stay in it's bag for a while... ;)

Actually: I just noticed you might have different problems right now: mediumshemp seems to be down (my site picxs.com is listed there).

Yeah your right. I haven't checked alexa stats but I got listed at index page of petardas one day and it was like huricane for my server. Of course it depends on spot - petardas list few galleries only and the hun much more.
