JAVES is now accepting blogs

But...the page will not build until we get one blog. So someone submit a blog and we will get the page built and you will be the only link on it.

Great! :)

A+

Hey Boogie, I'd like your opinion on a couple of things since I know very little about the world of blogging. To me, it's fine if a blog links back in the same manner as they would to another blog, with just a simple text link. Do other link lists expect their full recip button?

Should I care if the blog is on paid hosting? I'm fairly anal about such things as you may know. ;) This morning someone submitted a blog that was part of Blogger. I declined it, but that wasn't the only reason. I fear that if I allow free hosted blogs to submit, then maybe I'm settng a bad precedent. But I see the world of blogging as wholey separate from other types of porn marketing, so I just don't know.

And lastly (for my own purposes), in general, do bloggers prefer to submit to a designated blog category, or would they rather submit their blogs within the standard categories, mixed in with free sites? I can see some pros and cons of each, but I'd like the opinion of bloggers.

Thanks-
UW

hey UW :)

i think its ok if they're hosted somewhere else, as this is very common for blogger. its a risk you'll take sure but if you've got a good linkbot and dont mind policing it a few times a week.

One of the biggest obstacles with listing blogs is having to police them for spam and content and updates and things. so once you're listing blogs you're taking on the added challenge of having to check them very, very often.

that said, I think linkbacks should be in good prominient positions but shouldnt be too terribly detailed. as long as its a good one ya know?

and finally I'd say that bloggers want to be listed in a blog category as they're often appealing to people who like to read rather than just skim photos so i'd personally want to only get traffic from people interested in blogs and blogging, not my subject matter first. :)

Thanks Boogie. That helps a lot. It also gives me a new idea ;)

dirtyjumbo 2005-08-01 05:15 PM

Great news Jim, lemme get your link up and I'll submit :)

dirtyjumbo 2005-08-01 05:41 PM

OK, 2 blogs submitted, hope you like 'em :)

Any other big LL's planning on adding a blog category? :)

Useless 2005-08-01 05:49 PM

Your descriptions are short and lack flavor, but I imagine the blogs will be approved.

Well, it did ask for a "short descripton"

Next time I'll go overboard and spam you with a 500 words description lol ;)

As for lack of flavor, I guess I'm not in a creative mood today :D

Yeah, I don't have FTP access to the site. If I did, those rules would be updated and modified. That's probably one of the reasons they haven't given me access. :D

I'm using Blogger mainly because it looks nice and is very easy to use. I spent a day trying to get things looking right with Word Press. Then I found out I have to have a plugin to use photos and the plugin screwed up my blog.

I would submit my blog but I don't want that huge recip on there. Blogs either use text links or a chicklet style recip if any. Blogs don't use such a huge recip.

I think they said text links are fine with blogs....but I'm sure Useless Warrior will correct me if I'm wrong

You are correct sir! I expect nothing more than a text link in the same simple format as anyone else you are linking to.
