WP 1.5 - How to disable comments?
 

I was stupid enough to allow comments on my blog (WP 1.5) and now I'm getting a lot of spam. For the life of me I can't find back to where I turn commenting off completely. Can anybody help? Thanks!

i use heavy moderation on the comments and still allow them. i dont even see certain spam entries that use preset keywords.

goto your wp panel, click on options, then discussion

you can check:
Allow people to post comments on the article

er uncheck it to disallow comments.

alternatively if you'd like to try the heavy moderation that i use, do this:

scroll down to 'comment blacklist' and enter keywords that your spammers are using. now they'll think their commens are going through but they're not :)

put that into the 'comment blacklist' field and check
Blacklist comments from open and insecure proxies.

and you'll take care of 99% of spammers and never even have to moderate their posts and you will still allow comments from visitors.
