using dialup at a hotel

Hi I am going to myrtle beach for vacation and I called the motel I will be at and they said they have free dialup access.. I havent done dialup for so long how do I configure my pc to connect to they line ?? go to control panel and fish around ?? XP OS is what I'll be using..

if they had BB all I would need is a wireless network card and launch from my browser..

start, settings, network connections, (opens the window) pick create a new connection. There will be a wizard. I think you want the 2nd choice for dial up.

Find a hotel with broadband or even better one with WiFi.

I had to do web presentation for some cocksuckers a couple of years ago and they only had a dial-up connetion. I use RoadRunner, so I downloaded RR's dial-up software made not of local numbers in their area.

But they may have a better system at the hotel. Maybe you won't need anything other than your browser and Jugg's instructions. I'd call the motel back and ask them. ;)

I would buy the hotel and have broadband installed before I arrived.

Then I would burn the place down when I left :)

haha surfn - I am gonna just review and maybe add some pay links while I'am down there.. I hate to have to need any software to connect while I am there.. I never tryed to use a # without any isp software..

UW I think I will call them back and ask, you know what kind of tech people answer the phone at those motels..

In my past work experience and I think CD34 can back me up on this. All you should need is the # and the username and password. You might have to tweek out the dial up settings but any software installed by a company is basicly just going to do that for you. Unless they have some specail stuff they install like a firewall (which is stupid of dial up because dial up is the best secure way for you to surf, you shut it off an they are gone, most surfers are only on for a couple of hours with dial up befor they get booted or just tired of the speed) one things for sure, once you use it at this hotel you will come home an love your broadband even more. lol.
