How is GoDaddy ?

Hi guys,

How is GoDaddy for domain names ? The price seems right but do you rest assured your names are safe with them ?

Do they accept ePassporte ?

Thanks,
Emperor

SirMoby 2005-08-07 04:09 PM

I've never used them but most threads that start "Someone stole my domain" seem to be from people using GoDaddy.

Osiris 2005-08-07 04:45 PM

What SirMoby said, godaddy seems the be a haven for people that like thieving domains and they never do anything about it.

Try http://www.namecheap.com Good price and I've never had a problem with them yet. :)

Hi,

Alright, I'll scratch GoDaddy off my list.

What about WEB.COM ?

Is that NameCheap place professional ? I get a funny feeling about them just from their name.

Thanks.

Osiris 2005-08-07 05:22 PM

They seem to be professional to me. I've had domains there over a year now and everytime I've needed something they've been quick to reply.

I haven't heard of web.com

Prawnie 2005-08-07 05:37 PM

Never had any problems with GoDaddy. Although they do spam me everyday with a countdown on how long I have left on our domains |angry|

Spend the extra few bucks and go with directnic
You will be happy you did

I find namecheap easier to deal with. Bulkregister.com is another good one.

spacemanspiff 2005-08-07 08:51 PM

We've been with Godaddy for several years and never had a bit of trouble. Not an endorsement, just a fact.

They're inexpensive and they have bad interface design down to a science. They will try to trick you into buying something you wont want or need. When a form loads up you may see that you're opted in for addons. Be careful of that.

Namecheap is great so is Directnic.

H2ohNeil 2005-08-08 09:35 AM

I have dealt with netfirms, they were good to me.

I second that, NameCheap rocks! |bananna|

nottslad 2005-08-08 04:26 PM

I've been with godaddy for over two years with my domains, and although I see a little bad press occasionally I have no complaints myself.

tsands 2005-08-08 06:00 PM

I have tons of domains with godaddy and have never had a single issue with them. I also have domains with moniker.com and namecheap. All 3 have been great.

stuveltje 2005-08-08 06:15 PM

Funny this topic is because I use Directnic. Last night I wanted to buy 3 domain names and got to thinking. I have been with them for 4 years and really got a little pissed at the prices. Knowing I can get them for 1/2 the price. So I sent them a mail and explained to them that I want the new names but am offering them the chance to retain my business by offering me a discount. If they dont, then I'm looking someplace else.

juggernaut 2005-08-10 01:32 PM

Well guess I'm leaving DirectNic. Wont give a discount for my 3 domains. For me it's just the princible of customer retention. 4 Years, 7 domains, never missed a payment to them. Well Ill go look around.

noooze 2005-08-11 05:42 PM

go with namecheap - they are allso know as snncorp or is it smncorp.com
i've had my domains there for years and are more than happy!

GunnCat 2005-08-11 05:49 PM

Godaddy has some customer support issues. I have never had any problems with managing my domains, but I did have some billing issues last year or thereabouts. I had a continuing email trying to sort out the problem which was handled on their end by 7 or 8 support people, one seemingly worse than the other. Finally I called and worked things out with no problems. I haven't had any problems since then.
