phpadsnew upgrade - anyone done it?

So I get a message appear that I need to upgrade to 2.0.6 ok, if it needs to be done then it needs to be done. Anyone done so yet, and was all the info saved? I'm of course thinking 'yes' but with it being a heavy part of things I use, I wanted to double check. Some of the older ads are stored in the database II think?) while only the newer ones are html ads that just pull images from my usual banner folder (which isn't named banners so cool there).

I am less than clueless when it comes to things like mysql, and dont have the ability to chmod, which apparently I also need to do. Any other clueless people managed to upgrade smoothly, or do I need to be calling the A-team for this one?

I downloaded the upgrade too, but have yet to apply it. I'll be trying it later this morning and let you know if I have troubles you need to watch for.

I haven't even looked at the upgrade docs yet to know where to begin, so I can't say what steps need to be taken, but I'll post back as I said and give you any warnings I may experience.

Thanks FanTC,
There was a basic step-by-step on their forum, even that confused me lol.

Ah hell...I think I got it beat.. and nothing could be simpler, although what worked for me may not be gospel for everyone. I downloaded my phpadsnew folder to be sure to have it backed up and then overwrote the existing files on my server with the new ones(except config.inc.php).
Reloaded the phpadsnew admin page and it prompted me to proceed with upgrade. I clicked next, another prompt, clicked next and installation complete and everything fully functional.

Short , sweet, and too the point.

Hope it goes as flawless for you.

Damn, my files are lost, my sites are down, every sale I ever made just done a chargeback, the oven is broke and my dog just died. Back in 9 hours to say none of the above is true.

Cool stuff FanTC, sounds painless enough, I'll give that a whirl later |thumb

I had upgraded two days ago. No problems just follow the same steps that FanTC stated. I would also make sure that the mySQL db is backed up, but the primary thing to remember is do not overwrite your config.inc.php

Script upgrades, when they come out, are included with hosting at Colo-Cation

Well that went pretty smoothly :D

2 questions - how do I 'lock' my config.inc.php and the other, my host has said they will set up a cron job to do the maintenance thingummy which needs to be done every hour, but has asked for the parameters they need - what do I need to tell them?

Many thanks :)

Congrats!

I'm guessing here, but I chmod'ed config.inc.php to 644 to lock it and make it unwritable.

As for the maintenance thing, I hope the hell somebody can answer that, as I've yet to get it to run with cron.
Alternatively, I've been just going to my maintenance.php each day manually .

I just got my maintenance to run with cron using cPanel.
for the "command to run":
php /home/yourusername/public_html/phpadsnew/maintenance/maintenance.php

Change yourusername to whatever your is and replace phpadsnew with the correct path to the maintenance folder. I found this on google.

For those of us who upgraded in the past and lost everything (me) I must admit to being a tad but scared. But then again I was upgrading from ver 1.5 to 2.04 so there was a risk.
There was a fix on the website to delete a few selected files and I have done that but I guess I will have to bite the bullet and upgrade it..soon..:)

ps..dont forget Spitz on the adsnew board says you must rerun the invocation codes for them to work because this install treats something in them a bit differently
