Bloglines??? What is this?
 

I found I was getting some hits from Bloglines in my stats and acually a good portion of my blog appears there. What is this? Is it the Fusker of the blogging world? What's the point?

I love free trafffic but they haven't found my blogs yet it seems :)

Well, they're posting everything, sponsorlinks w/aff code included so I guess I'm not complaining. :) Just wondering what it is, There's so much about this whole blogging thing I don't have a clue about yet.

I *think* that's just an aggregator some people will be using that have subscribed to your blog. Instead of visiting each blog seperately, it's like a favorites folder online of the blogs thy like. Just guessing here as I'm mighty new myself, but I think you're OK :)

Its an aggregator that allows surfers to read your feed off site. Its the same thing they're doing with RSS readers, but are doing it through the bloglines site. think of it as an online RSS reader.

IF you dont like bloglines republishing your posts there are several alternatives.

The easiest is putting your RSS feed into 'digest' mode so that the entire article is not published, therefore enticing anyone who uses bloglines to come and visit the site for the full article.

The second is to stop using RSS alltogether, which would be not so smart.

The third would be including bloglines in your RSS access.


But bloglines does in fact republish your article as a whole, pictures, banners, affiliate codes. Unlike fusker it is fair and free and its a great way to get new exposure and return readers. You should learn to lover bloglines :)

its also really nice when you see on bloglines that there are several subscribers to your blogs. I've got 40 for boogie-blog there, 19 for porn cynic, etc...

its nice to know that you're writing something people actually want to read, so bloglines can provide an ego boost too :)
