SE Chat at 11pm Tonight, Weds
Hi all, we're having another search engine chat tonight at 11pm EST (EDT I guess it is really). The topic is going to be a continuation of last weeks, "Natural Linking", but we'll be looking at the new google patent a bit.

Fun chat. That Google patent article really got me thinking.

I should realy attend one of these someday.
Google patent application seems to confirm the so called Sandbox. Historical data on domain. Longer you've been around the better, with little signifagance given to new domians for 6 months to a year to weed out spam domains. Or something to that effect. |
I think of it as the 'age filter'.
I tend to agree. However, I myself have not read the actual patent, only synopsis of the patent by various people. But, from the synopsis, and the hints dropped by various experts, particularly at the recent SES conference, it sounds like an age filter to me. But, I'm pretty sure it's a fairly loose age filter. A new domain that gets good links from an older relevant domain can show up in pretty much the same amount of time that it would have three years ago, before the new patent. (as has been stated in this forum before) But, if a new domain doesn't get the right type of links, maybe it is "sandboxed". ( age filtered ) I really don't know. I haven't tested it. I like the idea of an age filter to stop spam. I'm not sure how well it's working, tho. |
