Camcorder recommendations?

I would like to get a nice new camcorder. The one I have now is a TRV 50 from about 3 years ago and has served me well, but it's time to move on. Any recommendations?

As amateur shooter i would recommend one of 3ccd panasonics (gs120\200\250)
Especially for outdoor shooting

Guess it also depends on what you want to do with it. Just home movie stuff or producing content for the web.

Bar none, the best deal going is a used Sony PD150.

I sold one a couple of months ago for about USD1200.00

You might, however, consider wide screen Hi Def. It is the future. I shoot everything in HD now, but it is considerably more costly.

We got this a few months ago and are very happy with it.

fstop and Cleo, that's what I was thinking about for sure. Hi Def looks pretty badass.

Hi Def will give your productions legs. It is 16:9 which is the future. Worth the money.

By the time you knock it down to a mpeg-1 for the web you have thrown away most of the info but the widescreen is still nice and you do end up with 1080 master tapes to be used in the future.

I bought my sony for 1 reason only. Memory sticks. I also own a couple of sony still cameras and just did not want to bother with having 2 differant memory sticks, chargers, etc. Everything seems to work with each other which is nice.

I render everything on WMV with Cleaner and it looks great with virtually no customer complaints. But you are so right about the masters. Who knows where the medium will be in three years. I look at some of my original stills on old Olympus cameras in 1998 and they are useless today. I think you should always use the very best capture medium available because it will pay off someday.
