they're owrking all right. been watching em a few days. directnic has several deisel power generators and have been swapping services for deisel fuel to run em, to keep their business online.

its fucking fascinating stuff :D take a read and you'll see.

If they do go down, then updates would be unavailable, meaning the current DNS settings would remain until they are updated, correct?

That is my understanding. Probably best to make sure that all your domains have been renewed for at least the next few months.
