How many sites you submit to?

I'm sure this has been asked before but just curious. I've been busy submiting galleries but getting back into free sites. I only submit to 30 free sites now but I'm working my way up.

Hi Sam,

I submit to 90 link lists

Useless 2005-09-11 10:57 AM

I don't submit to any. I make them beg for my sites.:D But when I did submit, I was submitting to something like 12-16.

Surfn 2005-09-11 11:07 AM

When I do submit sites these days I normally submit to 6-9 depending upon the niche.

SI 2005-09-11 11:31 AM

There're 50-80 LLs on my submit list, i'm adding a new ones on a regular basis. Most of them send a very few visitors, but who knows maybe someday they'll grows out to a big LLs, besides they gives backlinks for me.

sue-fl 2005-09-11 12:00 PM

I submit to 45 LL's with every site.

Lemmy 2005-09-11 03:51 PM

At one point I think I was subbing to every damn LL on the Internet. I've scaled back to about 30 now.

ponygirl 2005-09-11 04:01 PM

holy crow - I just counted & I'm subbing to just over 100 LLs...since I got my tables done it's not taking too long, I just didn't realize it was that many lol :)

End of Sept I will go back thru my stats & see if I can pare it down a bit...but I feel guilty taking anyone off as most do send me at least some traffic :D

I submit to 84 link lists

ladydesigner 2005-09-11 04:44 PM

I usually submit to the same 12 to 24 sites but have just added 12 more to my list.

Surfn 2005-09-11 04:54 PM

If I were just starting out (less than 2 years in the biz) I would submit to every LL that I could get listed on.

Then you have pretty much honed your skills and are making $$$ if you submit 5+ times a week. At that time I would cut back to LL's where I made actual sales over that period. Plus I would submit to new sites to see what kind of traffic they had once a month. That means you would be checking out 12 new LL's a year.

You need to have a plan which incorporates both the near term and the long term. Then stick with the plan.

cool..thanks for the feedback everyone.

Presmar 2005-09-13 01:22 AM

what range of traffic do you consider good for one free site?

i was submitting free sites around a year ago and i was getting 10k unique to one free site easily.. and now i see way much less ;(

Preacher 2005-09-13 10:02 PM

When I was submitting freesites I was submitting to around 60 linklists. Can't hurt your PR rating, with what little search engine traffic I did see. :)

I submit to 60 at a time, 5 copies*12 recips.

I tend to be quite anal about pouring over who lists me and who doesn't, whether it's for legitimate reasons (in my mind) or not and how quickly. Whether rejected submissions are explained, even factors like how easy is it to find the right recip or find the submit page from the index. All those help me compile a favourites list and I think I have my definite top 40, and am working on the next 20 so as to ensure I dont waste time in the future. Once I have my 60 I think I'll concentrate less on who does what with my sites and more on making sites. I guess my point is, as a submitter, I feel it's good to research whats going on with your sites for a while.

BTW I dont worry too much about which sites send me the most traffic. Of course, I submit to the high traffic sites but I feel it's just as important to submit to the smaller lists too, especially those that add quickly and dont compromise on the main rules to build their list. Some of those will be the high traffic sites in the future.

Two sites I submitted to 60 lists about two weeks ago have brought me 5,800 and 6,500 visitors so far. It goes without saying that most of these linklists will refer traffic forevermore, albeit in smaller numbers, add in the SE traffic that will come in. Plus I am still receiving approval emails so the sites are still being added to other lists.

Not sure over what time frame you received 10,000 or from how many linklists but I'm happy with the stats so far and the traffic still to come.

Halfdeck 2005-09-14 12:19 AM

I haven't touched free sites in a while, but if I was going to build one, I will probably just submit to 12-16.

pcum 2005-09-15 04:13 PM

I submit to about 60 LL,
and traffic is good, and conversion average

CalModels 2005-09-15 05:11 PM

Newbie question.. is there a link list of link lists somewhere? Not the "there are my friends" links that get displayed after a submit is completed but a comprehensive LL of all LL's?

Surfn 2005-09-15 05:16 PM

ok, I'll fess up. I've submitted to over 1,000 LL's in the past 8-9 years.

Out of that total less than 100 are still in existence.

How long do you need to create a free site (including index, main and 2 galleries) or do you create a few templates and then just change the text and thumbnails?

An hour or two depending on the amount of interruptions for me.
