2257 again, sorry to bring it up...
Personally I don't bother posting any other statement on my site than sending possible requests for age verification on to Specsavers (opticians), as it ought to be pretty damn clear to anyone that I am well above the age of 18, and I live outside of the US, so this post is not about my site. However, I also do cam work for a US based company and they have requested a release form and a copy of my ID.
As I am a Swedish citizen all my ID contains my Personal ID number, which enables anyone in possession of that number to access a wealth of information about me, including my personal address and my tax records, I need to get one thing clear; Who is entitled to access the data I am required to submit to the Cam company? Is any Tom, Dick or Harry able to access these files upon request? I am sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but I have searched near and far for the info and seem to get nowhere. As a non-us citizen it hasn't been much of interest for me to dive into this before. Just wondering if someone could clarify... Thanks! |
Only give it to that company if they guarantee in writing they will never give the info to surfers or affiliates. Simple.
If I were you I would look for another company. |
I was visiting friends a couple years ago when they were setting up their cam network (it's a big one that I don't need to mention) & this was standard procedure back then. Everyone had to sign a release & provide legal documents for ID & age verification.
But like Surfn said, read the fine print if your concerned with who will see the documents you send over. If they are giving content containing you out to affiliates OR they have the rights to resell your feeds/shows, then they may very well be giving out your info. |
