Likes/Dislikes in an Affiliate Program

Hey all :)

I'm trying to educate myself and get a feel for what people other than myself look for when making a decision on whether or not to promote a certain sponsor. What features of an affiliate program will draw you in, or make you decide to pass?

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on programs in general, or anything you might have to say that is specific to JayMan Cash

Thanks!

I like getting emails when I make sales

big banners 550x200 or something close to that size
and lots of em

theres nothing lamer then trying to premote a program that has only a few useable banners

I also like to know what hosted gallerys I am using and which ones I am not
a date function would work for that

hosted gallerys set up with titles and decriptions and thumbs

Tommy 2005-09-18 02:48 PM

ohh also I LOVE IT when I can go in and select and output for the hosted gallerys

like
TITLE|URL|DECRIPTION
or
URL|TITLE|DECRIPTION

A quick copy and paste and I am done

Hmm lets see..

The paysite has to make me want to sign up.. i.e. I have to feel convinced that surfers I send to join the site will stay with the site for a few months with a big smile on their faces.

The paysites offer regularly updated, exclusive content.

The sponsor has some really hot galleries, which I can use to promote the sites quickly.

The monthly fee is 25 a month or less (unless there's a busload of content and updates), there's a trial option, and PPS is $30+

There are enough free content for me to get some ideas on the paysite's 1. photo quality/average resolution 2. photo style 3. types of models 4. types of sexual acts (lesbian/softcore/hardcore/etc).

For solo girl sites, I'd want to know if there's regular live cam shows, if the girl talks with her members alot or if the site is just an archive of pics/vids.

I really fucking hate it when a tour has a link to something which would seemingly be part of that tour, but my affiliate code gets tossed in the shitter and the surfer (which I sent to that fucking tour) can still fucking sign up. I really fucking hate that. Of course, I don't promote sites like fuck me that way, or any other sites in the sponsor's fucking portfolio. Fucking 'A!

banners without fake thumbnails and video screens on them or "enter here" text

I like it when you can see the amount of money you're owed, including the $$$ that got transferred from previous pay periods

Yep - there are some sponsors that, if you allow popups on the FHGs, will give me the first one or two consoles, and then open up windows for tours that don't have my affiliate code in 'em, and even go to other sponsors' tours with the first sponsor's own affiliate codes embedded. And it gets even worse when I'm also promoting that 2nd sponsor - it means that promoting the first sponsor can result in my sending traffic to my competition. |angry|

Bottom line to me is, if I'm gonna subject my surfers to pop-ups at all, I'd like to be the one who gets credit for the sales.

I gave all my good ideas to Dam cash, when I won the contest for best ideas.

ya know what would be really sweet

if you could add your recips to your hosted gallerys

really just for se link backs

this way tgps and LL that link to mostly hosted stuff
would get some link pop out of it

the link pop is one of the biggest draw backs to hosted gallerys and sites

I also like detailed stats with graphs in the sponsor area, like Videos-z. It's more fun than looking at numbers.

Signup emails that tells me what page generated the sale, and if the sale came from a gallery page, the referrer info for that gallery page.

It would be nice if a sponsor provided an honest, accurate description of their paysites (like a mini-review). Knowing how much content is inside a paysite for example helps me decide to go either PPS or RevShare.

Right On!!! My my main sponsors banner selection sucks, as most of them have that fake thumbnail bullshit. Really pisses me off as I occasionally get declined because of that. |angry|

mostly what has been said, with emphasis on the promo tools - LOTS of odd sized banners turns me on ;)

- good stats that show referring urls & update often for those of us who like to refresh it every 5 minutes :D

- minimum payouts less than $100 & more than once a month

- good tours that you can pull lots of info from for text ads (spelling and grammar mistakes on tours & promo tools are my pet peeve)

- hosted free sites that are updated regularly with good content & nice layout. Quite frankly, some of the stuff out there is unusable.

If I like the site & the tour, usually it's the payouts & promo stuff that is my final decision on whether or not I'll promote it.

Well alot of things have already been mentioned. But here's a few more. I think that selecting a new sponsor depends on how you promote. If you have an established site with great traffic then banners and FHG are great. What I personally look for is good content, a site that can actually convert a sale and retain members. I like well organized webmaster areas so I can go in and grab free content to build and submit to the kinds of sites I mentioned earlier.

My biggest complaint is sponsors that will not respond to emails, icq or even phone calls. That shit pisses me off the most. For me this is not a hobby and time is money. I could be working to make myself and a sponsor cash instead of trying to track them down on icq or email.

Case in point, I signed up for a new program last weekend I thought wow this will be a great product to promote. I get into the webmaster area and start going after tools, content and other goodies...half the shit does not work how it's supposed to. RE: They offer a free host and you are supposed to create a sub domian but it doesn't work. I have tried contacting them several times and no responce! So guess what I will not be promoting...

Sorry, not trying to rag on affiliate programs, there are a ton of great programs that really have their shit
together but there's always a few that simply can't get it together. Guess we know where they will be in a year!

It's alot of trial and error, win some lose some lol. Good luck with your experience.

Likes:When the sponsors pays weekly and support epassporte
Dislike:Lazy support team

nekrom 2005-09-20 09:33 AM

Yup. Slow program response times is my pet peeve. Also supposed "account reps" that don't have a bloody clue about anything, and generaly waste my time. It can't be the hardest thing to train these people with some of the most basic qn's, without them having to fire off an email to admin and telling me "i'll get back to you".

Programs that have the above, quickly get shit canned by me.

~scoops up all these responses~

Thank you so much for your input. I'm trying to get an overview of what the absolute perfect program would be, and you guys/gals have helped out alot.

Much thanks! :)

stuveltje 2005-09-22 03:12 PM

mmmmmmm what i realy like is that when sponsor has an paysite saying niche big tits, then that in the members erea there are more tits and not the typical thing like hardcore or small tits asian(or no tits seeing there) , what i like from sponsors are great tours for their paysites........i know i am late with this but still i will post, even its chinese english dutch:D

ArtWilliams 2005-09-22 04:40 PM

I hate FHG that use HTML to display the pics. It means they are too much trouble to import into TGP Rotator. ---art

selena 2005-09-22 05:03 PM

Not too late at all, stu.

Keep 'em coming. :)

GenXer 2005-09-22 09:22 PM

My biggest like is epassporte payouts or what is even better is the INSTANT PAYOUTS that flashcash has! That has been the best feature I've ever seen on an affiliate program. Also, GOOD SUPPORT is very important to me.
I would also like to see more "hosted free sites" like Extremepaychecks has rather than mostly just "free hosted galleries" like most sponsors. The hosted free sites are great when you can find them.

Dislikes.........affiliate programs with really late payouts, no Epassporte option, bad webmaster support with either slow responses or no responses at all.

Rednax 2005-09-23 03:22 AM

Easy to use webmaster areas... good selection of promo content.

Give affiliates ready-to-use FHG link codes. Having to cut and paste ref code, base url and redir url for every gallery link is not fun.
