I notice that many people find a reason to link to google, yahoo, or a bunch of search engines on their index pages.

Does this really help? If so, can somebody please explain how & why?

I don't have an answer...but I'm glad you asked because I've always been curious about that too.

I never link my exit links to Google or other SE's, why give them free trafic if you can link to a mainstream program and make $$$ from it.

Back in 2002 i think, there were many rumors about how a link to google from your site can help your page rank, site inclusion etc.

So many people wanted some page rank so badly... and these exit links were all over the web.

Works great if you are already getting spidered and you happen to want to rank for "exit" :)
Otherwise, as mentioned before - its a waste of traffic and time

i use WarningPages.com. they give 1 cent per click. its not much, but its something :) cant pay your bills with that

hmm i use this on all my free sites, and all of 'em were approved so far. why do u think LL owners would decline free pages with exit linking to that? i dont see anything wrong with that ...

discussion we had some time back - dont know if the problem went away but I guess my opinion is still that it should be a non-adult exit since about half the submitters either dont use an exit (which in my opinion is the best) or they use something non-adult or their own hub of nonadult stuff
remember that a lot of people say something like "under 18 - exit here" or something like that so it better not go to an adult sponsor - and no not even if it was counted towards the three links - again my opinion
