Why is WordPress so popular here?
 

Looking through a few threads in this forum, it seems that pretty much everyone is using word press. I have tried pretty much every CMS, and I found word press to be decent, but I always go back to Mambo. Why are you using word press, and have you tried other CMS?

Wordpress is a very easy install, it is well suipported, and it's structure for pages is very friendly for search engines and such. There are tons of themes already made for it, and basically stuff works.

It is a standard in the blog world similar to IE as a browser - certainly not the best, but the one with the most direct and third party support.

that's my story, and I am sticking to it!

I can dig that, and why fix something that's not broken, right? I was just surprised to see the amount of threads all dedicated to wordpress.

i started with wordpress. but its good stuff. :)

i just today started playing with wordpress and am pulling my hair out trying to fuck with theme temaplates.

Why the fuck cant the php based templates all be in one file that i can paste into my html editor and edit at will like autogallerysql.

Arg! only been at it a few hours. i'm sure i'll get it to do what i want but till then, arg!!!!!!

But it is definately going to be a nice content management platform. Once i get the hang of it.

Think wordpress has become so popular because it's free. Not that, that is bad. I use movable type, and love it. Does just about everything I want.

Only thing it does'nt do, which I really wished it did, unless I havent figured it out, I wish it could save posts and it would automatically post on the day of the post. I can save posts, but only as drafts. Thats my only wish list.

Word Press has some great features but if you want a blog thats a piece of cake to customize templates with you should try Bblog.

Takes all the PHP crap away and uses HTML / CSS for template design.

Anyway thats my story and I'm sticking with it!

Movable Type is all CSS also.

wordpress rocks for me.
I dont know why...it has everything I need..
the only thing I dont like is that I have to upload an image each time Id like to publish it..But I bet there is some plugin which can upload image from my hdd, inst it?
