I would like to know what exactly it was that was found obscene since it doesn't seem they are referring to the pics of the dead.

Personally I think war should be shown as it is without all the gruesome aspects of it being censored. It's about killing people yet when you watch the local news I never see any dead people.

I did look at some of the dead pics. Absolutely horrific. Up until I saw them all I had for reference was what I've seen in the movies. Now I have a better understanding of what takes place in war. Much worse then anything I had imagined.

I still would like to know what was the material that was actually found obscene since it was stated that it wasn't the pics of dead people.

Life magazine changed the tide in American support of Vietnam by showing the public what was happening. There has been a ban on such things for this war so they are going to do anything they can to destroy this man.

That reminds me of the WTC bombings and watching all those people jump to their death. At one point it look like it was raining people really horrifying! But later when they replayed the footage they cut it out.

Then a few weeks later I watched a documentary they still didn't show many victims jumping, but they used the live feed from the videographer who was inside the towers with the firemen and you could hear the sound of bodies splattering on the sidewalks.

Again these things never made it into the News broadcasts. I guess that kind of truth doesn't go well with people eating. It might upset their stomachs.

So there's no confusion (which it looks like there already is) - this guy lives in Polk county in Fl - the most bible thumping place you'll ever see - he was a former cop there.
The charges are all for obscenity (they include 80 porn pics and 20 videos) that the sherrif deemed obscene - based on community standards - remember this is where the couple that was broadcasting on Ifriends was also arrested a few years back for obscenity.
The sherrif seems to have a problem with the girlfriend/wives self posts - he did allow members to do self posting and has (according to the sherrif anyway) nothing to do with the soldiers trade pics.
This guy brought an awful lot of attention to himself a few weeks ago on CNN and the people of his county were not happy with the exposure.
Things to keep in mind that may have blinded his judgement - his sites are all hosted on a server in Europe - and he tried to play that card already - but the sherrif already said - sorry - he controls the content from his house - doesnt fly as an excuse.

Cleo - I would start at forum35 - thats where most of the fringe stuff is like fisting and other things that have in the past brought out the obscenity charges in similar cases.

What about sites like rotten.com or ogrish.com which also combine porn and death pictures?

These politicians are so afraid that the site of death will hurt their political careers. It's a fucking war for christ sake! These people want to kill us! The bomb our fucking subways... fly planes into our fucking buildings... and cut the heads off of our fucking citizens! I think it's great that we parade around their fucking dead, blown apart bodies! Maybe these other zealots will get the point! Yea, I just took a look at the site for a few minutes. Was thinking...ok...what's the big deal...IF this is really about the 'porn'???

Then, hit the area Linkster mentioned...I'd bet that's what they're using against him. Didn't actually look at any of the pics in that forum, but some of the thread titles are way too close to the edge in todays environment.

I tried to look at the pics but I guess you have to register and donate $10 to see the pics in that forum.

Since he lives in the US I don't think his 2257 is going to fly.

I've never understood the outcry over fisting. I lived in farmland until I was eleven and saw vets stick their whole arm up animal's vaginas.

I dont know what to say but I found the section where the gross and dead people picture posts were and it didnt ask for a password... I seen a few of those kind of pics. before when searching google from being courious, IMO some people probably more than some can look at those kind of pictures and have it just pass through there mind, but to see it live is totally different IMO..

in war people on both sides get blowed apart and pictures are taken but few see them, but in this modern world with the net and tech we have. is the GOV or state GOV's surprised to find sites like that.. But for the dead people in those pictures I think it's not moral to have the way there bodies are for the whole world to see.. how would your family feel if your dead body was all blown out and put out for 1.000.000's to see...

I have been following this on the news. I haven't and won't go to the site as I don't care to see dead bodies. Cleo is right though Lakeland is the way she described it. I spend a lot of time there as I have family there. They have had lots of trouble with people in office fucking up many times.

Still I don't agree with them going after him for porn, as there was no mention of c***d porn or rape etc. I think it mostly boils down to where he lives at. I hope he makes out in alright when it goes to trail.

I'm still waiting for some smart lawyer to toss in the hard facts that +70% of hard drives have porn on them. Maybe nobody on the jury would admit it, but, what are they going to do if 9 out of 12 of them have porn on their own computers.

I think that they should show those war photos all over, so that people really understood what kind of suffering and pain war really cause to people. These days’ people think war is just like a video game with no killings, no torture, no rape and no suffering. If we should have been brought up with horrifying photos and videos from actual victims of war, on the news everyday and in school, I doubt that it would be so much war going on in this world…

Hopefully a lot of people visit this site and view those photos and then change their opinions about war.

I have to disagree with you mist. I certainly don't want them showing the pics all over. It's there for you to see if you want, and that I agree with. But I don't want to be reading CNN, walking past the tv, or getting a newspaper and see this type of stuff. And I don't want to become immune to it either.

As for the webmaster, Polk County is gonna do it's best to fry him. As a former officer there, he's got to know they would. Whether they should is a totally different story.

Sure, it’s rather disturbing and it would be very uncomfortable to see the truth in the news or the papers, for many people, but war is not comfortable.

I think it’s tragic that we first elect the people that gladly starts the war, but we refuse to the see the consequences it causes.

the news media is so afraid to report either for being labled at "right winged" or "left winged" they forget we are "human winged".

and while i'm on my soap box..i'm so fuckign sick and tired of the "foxes" of this world justifying Abu Grave (or however the fuck it's spelled) by saying "at least we didn't cut their heads off".. WE are supposed to be BETTER than they.. WE are supposed to hold ourselves up to a higher standard then becoming the enemy we are fighting.. AND whatever happened to responsibility? The person with the least to lose (Linde England) took the fall for those who should have KNOWN what was going on. Why wasn't the head of the prison reprimanded at the very least.. She should have known what was going on inside her own prison.

I say let the world see the effects of war..maybe it will make someone somewhere think twice before rushing in to show 'Shock & Awe'...
