Repair suggestions?
 

anyone have any suggestions for a program that locates missing dll files then repairs them?

Is it not throwing a error up with the name of the missing or bad dll file? Now I know that would be to easy and then you could just download a new one

my system search and my system restore are coming up blank. My yahoo messenger won't load.. it was blank too but i thought because i hadn't installed the last 2 versions, mine had just been disabled so i uninstalled it, and installed the newest version.. but i can't find it in my system.

the problem stems from I installed Norton 2005 but my system creeped along, took me 2 hours just to access 3 files. so i uninstalled it and it took extra stuff with it.

so i posted on the tech world board and their advice was that norton probably took some dll files with it and to find a replacement program.

goddess knows i HATE this. and reformatting is not an option until like Dec. 15th.

I know there are programs out there but just don't know enough to figure out a simple and easy one that will fix this crap.

i'm am so tech impared.

If you have your OS disc you can run a repair and it wont remove anything except the windows updates that I,ve seen

hmmm.. when i got my computer, it was preloaded and they put the 'disc' on a secured partitioned drive but never sent me the actual cd's. maybe i can click thru that drive and see if there is a place i can repair.

gawd i hate being so tech stupid.

My techie pal in seattle sent me a cd with the missing files on it.. woot.. and a repair kit.. with very detailed instructions.. goddess knows i love the fed ex guy today.. who came out in rain & hail.. at least we didn't have sleet and snow..lmao..
