RANT: Fix my fucking internet before I go insane!
 

Aggggg, I'm so sick of this. The company I have internet from expanded to my small town last year and oversold it so there is times when I'm dial-up slow...like this AM. I'm trying to work, and, for instance, to make this post I have to wait almost 2 minutes for the page to load. |angry|

I just called them again, and they are now projecting Mid November for the repairs to be done, and it will be really fast since they are putting in fiber optics, blah blah BLAH.

Of course, when I called earlier this week, it was projected to be TODAY. And when I called last month, it was supposed to be mid Oct.

I am 100 FEET to far from the central office to get DSL the bastards. |angry|

I don't doubt they will fix it, and it will be all what they say, and they gave me a 2 week credit, nice of them, but doesn't help me get my work done right now. |angry|

Poor MadHatter, he goes crazy checking links for the link list waiting for pages to pull up. |angry|

Ok end of rant, just had to get that out of my system. If I don't answer anyone that PM's me or posts, you know why now.

Thanks MrYum. Right now, this minute, it is fine. I have periods where it is great, then it slows down to nothing like this morning. I have to get up and walk away and do something else because I just go crazy waiting for pages to pull up, I'm too spoiled, lol.

Yea, I've got cable here and it's pretty quick. But, there's faster speeds available now...yup, I'll be upgrading |thumb

I've been using my backup ADSL from Earthlink since the storm took out my cable modem and fuck is it slower. Earthlink does offer a faster speed but since this is just for backup I'm only paying for their 1.5/128 service. Cable modem is 6/768 and it's the slower upload speed that really is killing me but surfing is also noticeable slower.

But other then moving I can't really think of anything to help with your connection problems.

I know it would cost a little more but you might check to see if they have biz connections available - they can put a little circuit card in your switch to boost the signal for a business connection that would greatly improve speeds - of course for me where I am (10 miles away from the switch) it took a lot of investigating to find the right person to talk to get the technical end done - most installers know about the cards, but most "customer service" types have no idea other than whats on their screen :)

Like Linkster said, a business connection is the way to go. Phone up and ask for business sales.
