Best EU country to base your porn business in?

Which country belonging to the EU do you think has the best pornography laws?

BML 2005-11-06 09:50 AM

Depends on what your looking for, but I know Holland and Spain have pretty liberal porn rules.

Holland is good, but little big tax. Also hosting solution now very good at NL as well. Czech republic is also good choice, not so big tax and good law for adult.

I see a lot in gibraltar.

This would be why.

Gibraltar has, however, managed to obtain certain derogations from European Law, in particular Gibraltar does not apply Value Added Tax or the Common Customs Tariff.

Ive seen one of the major programs keeps their 2257 in cyprus, and I assume part of their business is based there too.

however, I dont know if Cyprus is officially part of the EU

Mefo 2005-11-08 03:54 AM

The netherlands has the most liberal laws...

if you're looking for a cheap solution gibraltar would be your best bet

Pornography laws?

i thought that belonged to the other side of the atlantic.

Here in Denmark I am not aware of any laws against pornography, except for things like CP and that kind of weird stuff...

I am hosted in Germany though, because it is hard to get decent hosting in Denmark at a cheap price...

Last thing I heard was that they still want to see some lasting peace agreement between the greek and turkish part - and by any means: at this stage only the greek part could become associated with the European Union (too many issues with a turkish membership).

Adriches Rep 2005-11-09 02:57 AM

Cyprus looks very promising... both for it's server policies as well as it's banking and privacy rules.

Vivaldi 2005-11-09 05:23 AM

the real question is why R U interested!? & what do You mean by it!?

now if it's about general rules (laws) & public opinions Holland definitely
if it's the taxation thingy U R interested it's Cyprus (the Greek side)

This is probably a good thread to post a question off of my "To Do List". If any of you have a good referral for an attorney or solicitor outside the US (I'm leaning toward the Netherlands) who doesn't have a problem with adult, I'd like to register my domains out of the US and have the mailings sent to him/her. Please PM me with any contact info.

I have a company in both Gibraltar and NL. Gibraltar was very easy to set up and the company allows processing in EU. I would say for me that NL is the best bet though. I've been there, met with some great people who really go out of their way to help you out and make sure every i is dotted, t is crossed. They are the best I've done business with in a very long time. Taxes are not something I have to worry about either. I have my hosting and merchant account in NL and I would recommend NL to anyone wanting to go offshore. But you have to be prepared to invest a little more time (you have to go to NL to register a corp) and money to make it happen. If you aren't willing to do that, then GI is where you should go.

Cyprus is most often used because of the low corp tax. 10% or so. And since it's within the EU most EU corps can transfer the years earnings to their respective countries without further taxation. That is not always the case with Gibraltar corps because most EU tax laws don't accept a nil-tax system.

faxxaff 2005-11-23 05:29 PM

I would say Slovakia. Only 19% income tax and no objections to porn.

Only Russia and Ukraine are better, but they are not EU (yet). Maybe Croatia, because porn is almost unknown there and you can get away with income tax of 5% in rural areas (but also not inside EU yet). Actually it is better to be outside of the EU if you are in Europe :-)

Kicker 2005-11-27 09:11 AM

Don't count on Ukraine let alone Russia to be in EU any time soon.

Estonia or Latvia could be better choices but I dunno much about those.

I believe Czech Republic is the best choice nowadays.
