Cheap hosting, too good to be true?

Hi guys

Im looking for a cheap host and after searching the board I only found a couple of hosts who have what Im looking for:

5 GB max
100 GB/month max

So far I found dreamhost, servage and webair, anyone knows if they are realiable?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Dreamhost is reliable, I have an account with them since 2000 ...
Now they have an excellent promo offer, $7.95/month for 120 GB bandwidth!

I have accounts with both. Dreamhost can't be beat for price. I pre-paid a year in advance and end up paying $15/month for 250 GB. Support is by e-mail and can at times be very slow.

Webair has very fast support response. They'll answer the phone on the 1st ring Sunday morning 3AM. Most of the time they seem eager and capable to address whatever problem you have.

Bottom line, with cheap virtual hosting you're not going to get the best of everything. Corners will have to be cut in order to keep the price down.

I've been having problems with Webair, so I have most of my php pages on Cyberwurx and I have free sites on webair. 15 bucks a month for 250 GB sounds like a good deal, but that's what I thought about webair. You get what you pay for.

Hi Shinu, I started out with servage and been with them for about a year now. All and all there pretty good. It really depends on what your needs are. I would not recommend them if your planing on submitting galleries or planing to grow a business. They give you a lot of bang for the buck as far as storage and bandwidth but watch out for the 11gb a day limit. You go over that and they shut down everything till the new calendar day rolls over. That's bad for business! If you want to give them a try use this coupon code http://www.servage.net/?coupon=cust11922 you'll get an extra 500mb of storage if you use the coupon.

Just remember that cheap is not always the best choice but again depends on your goals. Servage would be great for a small site or hobbyist beyond that you may want to consider other options. Hope that helps a little. |thumb

hasnt cut corners, but their prices are still pretty good. low bandwidth plans starting at $4.99 and for high bandwitch, 50 cents a gig... no contract, or hassle and they accept paypal.
