My Own Tour
 

I know it's been mentioned in here several times through the years but I'm not sure the exact phrases to use to search for it so thus this thread.

I've been having fantastic luck on tgps the last month or so designing my own self hosted tour pages instead of sending the surfer directly to the sponsors tours (sadly most of them suck)

Instead of having my links on my galleries pointing to the sponsor, I have been sending traffic to my own designs.

I don't even usually use pop ups on those pages, and if I do it's a simple one not affecting the surfers ability to go back to the gallery, and then back to the referrer or another recips link.

I then try and get the surfer to click through directly to the sponsors signup page by-passing the sponsors tour altogether.

I do perhaps 50% of the time (depending on the niche and my confidence in the value of the sponsors site.) open the sponsors sign up page in a new window to keep the surfer on my tour (most often with a link on the bottom of my self designed tour to another gallery of mine or a hub in the same niche to try and save the sale.)

I am converting so well using this (my ratios have doubled) I want to use this on my free sites
Would this be acceptable at most link lists?

Yea, at first blush...I'd have no problem with what you describe. Your tour is probably more surfer friendly than a lot of paysite tours...and with fewer traffic leaks.

A couple questions...

You say that you do pop a console. Is this a console that defeats blockers?

One issue that cause you problems is popping the paysite signup page in a new window. Most link site owners don't like new windows opening on free sites. But, since you're only opening the window from your hosted tour...I can live with it :)

Sometimes I have used a flash pop up, but usually a java pop up...though again that is a rare occasion I use any pop ups at all.
I do like the use of a new window to a lot of iffy sites, I'd rather keep the surfer while he looks then have him close the sign up window...hell most of those are worse then their tours :(
As long as I can keep the surfer in my grasp the better the odds I can get A SIGN UP FROM HIM, AS LONG AS I DO NOT UPSET HIM ALONG THE WAY. Again this is on the link FROM my site....I know many LL's do not allow even a sponsor pop up, even less a webmasters one.

The tour would be on the same domain as the freeesite but would use links counted as outgoing.

Another bonus of this is I can fully track my offsite clicks. I KNOW if a surfer clicks to the sponsors sign up page.

As long as you only have 3 links out per page, they're not blind and there's no console hell, I don't care if you send them to "Bobs House of Chili and Messy Assfucking" before sending them on to your sponsor :)
