Oh the rewards:)

The rewards of being a mom that is. Been at odds with my 17 year old lately, nothing serious just teenage stuff. Thinking will I get threw to him? Well about an hour ago he came to me and said "Mom will you listen to this for me"? I wasn't thrilled as it was a rap song but I knew he really wanted me to hear it. It was a song all about Mom and how much she is loved and appreciated. The words were so nice, even though he said it threw a song it made my night.

So I have gotten threw to him! He appreciated the fact I hung in there and told him how much I loved him after every arguement. After feeling like I wanted to pull my hair and his out, he does this. I got my reward and my heart touched... |thumb

Sorry to be so mushy, just felt like sharing it. And I'm sure after I tell him tomorrow that yes he still is grounded we'll start all over |loony| Just felt nice to know I am getting threw to him. I'll have to remember that when he starts driving me nuts again...

Sue, those are the greatest rewards in life. You have a right to be mushy.

I think that's great. I get mushy with my kids too....mine are still really little so it doesn't take much to please them. My favorite is just getting a hug for no reason at all...

Sue!! That was a great story!!

Just keep the dialogue flow going, remind him you love him and yes he is still grounded BECAUSE you love him and there will be many more touching moments to remember.

And, in my opinion, some rap is poetry, an expression of ones feelings/ideas set in a rhythmic tone.

thanks again for sharing..

Thanks for your nice comments!

I hear ya GenXer those hugs are great!

docholly a lot of the rap I'm used to hearing isn't as pleasant as the one I listened to last night. My son is black and has explained to me many times, it's their story they are expressing. I get that part but the cussing every other word gets on my nerves when it's blasting from his room everyday.. :D

Thanks chop as I really was in a mushy mood... |thumb

Very nice...well done Sue |thumb

I don't have kids, but it sure is good to know there are still parents that make the connection with their kids :)

Congrats Sue...hope you and yours have an amazing holiday!
