I hate network solutions

The one domain I still have with them expired early last week. Of course I did not get a notification to my regular email, even though I updated it when I moved up here. They sent it to a yahoo account I check about once a month.
Anyway, dareutwo.com will be back up in a day or so, dns just needs to propogate.
So all emails to that account will bounce for a bit.
Sorry about that - (putting string around finger to remember to move this to directnic)

I keep a little text file with a list of my domains and their expire dates, sorted by date. I check it once/month to see what's expiring in the next couple of months and take care of the renewals. Email is too unreliable these days to rely on for anything important.

I can't even count the number of good domains I lost with network solutions. I feel your pain.

Surfn 2005-11-28 01:15 PM

I had hundreds of domains before NetSol was setup. They charged way too much for what they were offering so I waited until their monopoly was broken and a couple friends of mine setup their own registrar businesses.

Then I started buying and selling domains again. |bananna|

I'm surprised they still have any customers, their prices have always been outrageous

Papa 2005-11-28 05:43 PM

Yeah f*ck them !
I have left them since i don't know when it but was a long time ago !
Anyways, they always overcharged people

I was just thinking the same thing. Why would anyone deal with them?

Linkster 2005-11-29 12:40 AM

cosmiccat - because there are a lot of "scammers" out there that build turnkey sites for the newbies and for some reason they all have their domains registered there - and turn that "feature" over to their unsuspecting prey :)

That's terrible! Net Sol has more horror stories than Godaddy. I only have 1 domain with them because of I bought it off of snap names. I keep forgetting to transfer it but I'm going to (hopefully)

because their names are allready there and its easyer to keep paying rather then chance a move, a lot of people dont know directnic is better or even cheeper

I left tommys there untill last month I was always afraid to unlock and move it

imange some poor schmuck with only one main stream domain selling cookies

but....I am finally out of there

thats the thing and I am afraid of the same, I pay 35.00 a year for the first ones I bought when started, there a good company and rock solid, but then I got some more with directnic and love them, price and easy to use admin..

and its sad this biz is hard enough by itself and who needs domain registar problems

Kenny B! 2005-11-29 05:32 PM

My first domain I bought with NetSol, and that was the last, I really like directnic but recently have been using Moniker, they seems good so far and are only $7.20 for a .com, have any of you had any experience with Moniker?

IwantU_Jennyfer 2005-11-29 06:39 PM

Never heard of them, i wonder if they are good

Linkster 2005-11-29 07:20 PM

Kenny - I have an account with Moniker - I use it primarily for transfers as a lot of domain brokers use it or one of a few others to push domains (transfer them) free of charges.

The only drawback with them Ive ever run into is that they dont clear out their database very well - so Ive had domains that Ive moved over to DirectNic and a year later Im getting renewal emails from Moniker :)

Tommy 2005-11-29 08:13 PM

domain name systems is good to push domains, no charge also

Trent Edison 2005-11-30 01:04 PM

Tommy, check your email box please...

That is definately not a good sign. If it happens like that, I am wondering if the reverse can happen where they lose domains? I'd want to hear more positive experiences before I used them, although that price is very tempting.

For what it is worth, I use directnic.net. Sure it is $15, but I've never had a problem and was terribly impressed reading the blogs from them how they were up and running even during hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Stuff liek that gets my attention and tells me they'll do what it takes to get the job done. I love that.
